Editing / Censoring out Profanity / Cursing
Unfortunately most conventions have a profanity rule in their AMV contests, and some of my potentially best AMVs involve music with an f-bomb or two (or 20). Does anybody know any audio tricks to censor out words that doesn't break the flow of the song or outright stop the music? You can assume the tracks are essentially mono.

You might try isolating the section containing the offending word and applying a parametric EQ notch (band stop, or just peak) filter to get rid of the frequencies that come out strongest when the vocalist sings the "uh" vowel.
Other than that, I really don't know (especially since you said the source was mono).

I would assume you're not working with music that has a censored version already available that you could align over the video?

.. most songs have a "repeat" factor built-in to the songs melody and nothing say's you can't
simply write over those words with background music. Radio and TV stations do "just that" when
we hear songs which violate our policy, we cover-over with either background music and/or
insert other words in-its-place. it has no place in the room with students and kids of any age.
.. if people want to hear that gay-rap stuff then let those fag's find it in the hood where it belongs ..

If you want to be funny, find an anime clip where someone goes "SHH!" and sync that to the music. Let the clip stall for a few seconds like if the song went "Sorry for my rudeness but I don't think I really give a-" "SHH!" 1 Mississippi, 2 Mississippi, 3 Mississippi, continue song. Use a freeze frame if you want to.
Almost as hard as fighting a Holy Paladin.

Might be a bit tough with the tracks I'm wrestling with, but a good idea.post-it wrote:.. most songs have a "repeat" factor built-in to the songs melody and nothing say's you can't

I don't know why you're assuming it's hip-hop. Nor why everyone is assuming it's any kind of pop music.post-it wrote:it has no place in the room with students and kids of any age.

This is indy stuff. And it's quite hilarious.

I hate lack of an edit button...
I see where your going, think that'd be quite funny but only really in a song that dropped one big curse. Not really a trick that'd work more than once...The_TEKnician wrote:If you want to be funny, find an anime clip where someone goes "SHH!" and sync that to the music.
