Help in AVI file for Sony Vegas

Post by Xerapher » Wed Apr 28, 2010 7:26 am

Hello guys, I need a bit off help (and yes I'm new here, so please go easy on me)

I tried importing my AVI file of Code Geass on Sony Vegas and every time I enter it on the editing bar it's always audio and no video for it, do I need to convert it or something and if I do need to convert it can you suggest to me a good converter.

Sounds like you're trying to load a lossy video. You should only import lossless video, but be warned that they'll weight quite a bit. Be sure to Read <a href=http://www.a-m-v.org/guides/avtech31/>ErMaC & AbsoluteDestiny's Friendly AMV Guides Lovingly Overhauled Largely by Zarxrax</a> as it does explain exactly how you can do that through avisynth + virtualdub, which are free and optimal tools. :)

if you are importing downloaded source material, it might have non-standard xvid parameters. try framecasting with makeavis, or converting to uncompressed. Certain, older, versions of Vegas do not support lagarith, but I think huffyuv should work, and if not you can try Motion Jpeg or Jpeg 2000. I usually re-encode directly from the DVD to mpeg-2, but if you have an AVI source, it would be pretty much extraneous at this point. And if it's downloaded, people may be reluctant to help.

i'm assuming the file is a divx/xvid codec. you really shouldn't use those, but if you must, try downloading:

http://www.free-codecs.com/download_sof ... 4696&s=106 (it should automatically start downloading after clicking that link)

when it's finished, open the .zip, and click the avic.exe, open up the .avi file in that, and change the fourcc description code and fourcc used code to "divx" instead of "xvid". then after putting it in vegas it should provide both video and audio.

don't use fourcc changer, it's really old and messes up header files. You really should download the latest build of xvid off xvidvideo.ru and learn how to use the fourcc parameter.

i have never personally encountered a problem when using it, but that's just me. and i'm pretty sure i have the latest xvid build, so why exactly are you recommending it.
