  • Offsite links are allowed, but you are required to have a catalog entry for that video as well. Threads announcing videos that do not contain a catalog entry will be moved to the Awaiting Catalog Entry sub-forum and will be deleted in 2 weeks if an entry is not created.
  • When posting announcements, it is recommended that you include links to the catalog entries (using the video ID) in your post.
  • Videos that do not contain anime are allowed to be announced in the Other Videos section and are not required to have catalog entries.

don't watch the whole thing; sure whatever but here are some of my favorite moments check it and be proven wrong.

(lots of stuff I already watched)

Poorly edited my ass!! And im pretty sure theres more but as of now this will do.
Please, please stop. You're just not getting it. You pointing out the favorite parts of the video is like a little kid pointing out all his favorite stick figures he drew on the wall with his pink crayon. As far as your friends are concerned, they can't even draw stick figures so they think anyone who can is awesome. Your acting analogy is faulty because most people have seen enough movies to tell a good actor from a bad one. But across the vast sea of the internet, how many people have actually seen enough good amvs to tell them apart from the bad ones? Some people can, but most can't. That's why we have places like this for people to post their videos and know they are getting actual advice.

I used to make some pretty terrible videos myself and my friends thought EVERY ONE OF THEM was absolute tits. That's because it was way better than any one of them could do. And I honestly believed they were right. If I hadn't started getting advice from people who actually knew how to edit, I never would have gotten anywhere. Are you really that thick that you can't see what's happening here? This is not a matter of opinion. You showed that video to a bunch of people who have never edited a single second of video and they thought it was great. Now you are showing it to a crowd that actually knows what they are talking about and THEY ARE TELLING YOU IT SUCKS. Who are you going to believe?

Let me point out to you what you consider good editing. It's how compact it is. It doesn't matter what you do to the footage, just how often you do it. The more edits-per-minute there are, the better the video is. This is basically the equivalent of button mashing in a video game. It doesn't matter what the buttons do as long as you press them as often as possible and watch stuff on screen happen. After some of that, the button masher wins the game and thinks he doesn't need to learn the buttons. He won so he must be good at it right? Then he goes and asks his friends who haven't even played the game if he is good at it. They say yes, he must be since he won. What do you think a real player thinks of that? Does he think the button masher is actually good at the game?

tl:dr

You can stay in your comfort zone if you want. You can keep making videos and only showing them to people who don't know how to tell if a video is bad. As far as they're concerned, as long as the anime was cool and the music is cool, then the video must be cool as well. But that shit will NOT fly here, understand?

and to add to your video game analogy, I played and beat Bayonetta on Very Easy in what was essentially 2 or 3 days, does that make me uberleet? No, that is the easiest difficulty setting, it goes up to very hard, and I haven't even unlocked hard. Also, I only have one of the items, there are over 100 of them, and I only have half of the weapons, but if I show the combos I know, which is less than 1% of the combos in the game, since I bought all the combos but can't execute most, and there are several combos that are specific to items and weapons I don't have, to someone who never played the game before, they are going to think I am awesome, simply because I can beat a huge ass boss to a pulp.

So games like Devil May Cry, etc. Are good examples of button mashers that go above and beyond games like street fighter.

Also Mortal Kombat II is one of my favorite games because of how hard it is and all the combos, some of which I can't even do they're so challenging and restricted to time and positioning, so simply beating one character on MKII and saying you are the champion is what you're doing. You didn't beat Shang Tsung or any of the bosses which I still haven't gotten to because there are so many matches you have to beat and I keep getting whooped.

Yes, exactly. Compare that to me who has beaten Bayonetta on every difficulty and unlocked every item and is working on doing it a second time with a different character. Kickass here is like dirt compared to me. Less than dirt. Feces even. Worth less to me than the toilet paper I use to wipe him off my ass. An existence so vestigial it is impossible to even pity-

Sorry, got carried away there. Anyway, I want to go back to your acting analogy. Lets say you can act. If just a little. Your friends can't act at all. You suck at acting but if you and your friends had an acting contest you would win by unanimous vote. Now take that acting to an actual audition. Would you believe they turned you down? Even though you were better than all your friends? because that's exactly what's happening here.

no it's okay, since the example I'm about to communicate will make your example a fecal pile taller than mount everest.

If dantetheonly was the greatest actor in any genre, I'd have to say it would be an American Porn Star. You dropped out of high school, got addicted to crack, got put in jail for theft, burglary, and robbery, and now when you retire, the greatest achievement you will have is making enough granny porn videos so that you have enough money to lease an apartment until you die miserable. You acted so well that I almost believed that you put out the effort to get your GED, and have a better english vocabulary than a 1st grader in mexico.

@Dante: Its great to know that you have favorite parts of your own video, but it just looks a liiittle bit like you're boasting. ^^;; Especially with the, "bad editing my ass!" bit...

Ok, ok. So you say your video is not bad in the slightest? What would you consider as a bad video? (And please don't tell me or anyone else that a bad video is anything without effects.)
To me, a bad video would be randomness as well as too much lip flap, specifically when this video wasn't meant to be a tribute. Effects don't matter, really (quality over quantity.) As I said earlier, after watching the full thing, I did not feel satisfied. Some points were ok, but you still need to majorly improve. Just adding on to Silk's advice, is all.

Also, seeing as you're a member here, you should post around more. There's other forum topics as well as other AMVs to be viewed and commented on, my dear fellow. =)

dantetheonly, I have a question for you, now I want you to watch this video for me :

if you think that's a good video, tell me.

Your answer will determine whether I will ever accept you as a person. I'm not saying this video is good or bad, I'm just asking if that fits your definition of a bad video or if it fits your definition of a good video.

Complete denial because it's your own creation....nobody wants you to stop promoting your videos, but you need to accept this is bad. There's no way you can prove to anybody that it's good...it doesn't have a single good point bro.

Quite odd you would say that considering BTBAM is not at all screamo. :P

I tried it, and like many others found that the flaws made it unwatchable.
