I wonder if the gas station would take it if I brought one of thoes red gas canitsers, saying that my grandmas car broke down, and I came to get gas? (If you have to know, I'm only 15)

It could be for a lawn mower. Besides, no one that works at a gas station is gonna care what you do with the gas as long as you don't spray it all around the gas station.

I recall someone figured out a way to make a neat groundburst effect for a film they were working on...

They took 2-liter soda bottles, half-filled with water, and buried them in the ground, up to the neck. Then they dropped dry ice into the bottles, screwed on the caps and very quickly covered them with loose dirt, leaves, etc.

After that it's simply a matter of waiting. There's no way to predict when the pressure built up inside the bottle will be enough to cause it to burst. The end result was rather impressive on tape, I have to say.

And technically, these aren't pyrotechnics...I'd call 'em cryotechnics.

Disclaimer: Don't try this at home, kids. Unless you want to risk your eyesight, limbs, or those of your friends. Or enemies. Just be smart, mmkay?

When the extremely bright/hot magnesium reaches the iron it will start a super hot reaction. The oxygen from the rust will break off from the iron and burn, which means this doesn't need a source of air. Cover it with dirt and it will keep on buring, it will even burn under water. The only way to stop it is to spread the shavings apart so that they won't catch fire.
thats how waterproof matches are made. magnesium is teh roxxor.

Back when I was in High School, one april fools, we took 5 25lb blocks of dry ice, and cut it into cubes with a reciprocating saw. We then proceeded to take these blocks to school in cardboard lined backpacks. Each person then went to a different bathroom in the school, 45 minutes before school started. We dropped one 3x3 inch cube in every one of the toilets, and some of the urinals. The carbon-dioxide fog proceeded to fill the school, top to bottom. School was shut down with everyone standing outside for 3 periods. :D
