Well, space issues aside, I could put dots to guarantee it's recognized as an acronym ^^ But after you said it, yes, it's a worry to those unaware of AMV Salad that they would misconstrue the name. Objectively, would you say A.M.V.S. 4 would work, make it iconic, or would you think I should go ahead and attempt to get it in there? ...or I have another option, if nobody minds it going on a little longer: after the "CRAP!" have "AMV Salad 4: TV Dinner" sketch in on the black screen after.

What do you think?

My only problem with dots and nothing else would lie in if somebody, say, had never seen any of it before would still have no idea what the actual name was (like say if they wanted to talk about it later or find out more about it later with a google search).
I for one wouldn't mind a few seconds after the crap for some text. I'm gonna parrot what Deuce says and say I trust your opinions as to which you think would look better. lol.

Okay, completely random question. When the whole project begins, there is a very well done Lucky Channel logo flashing all dramatic ala ABC News with Dan Rather. I'm going through Lucky Star now, but just in case I may be wasting my time, is it even IN the show or does someone have very strong animating skills?

The Lucky Channel logo, at least the first and third scene of it, are basically a replica of the Onion logo (where the audio is from) that I asked a couple friends to replicate in 3D with Lucky Channel as a special little oomph to start things off as I worked on the vid itself. The second scene is from the Lucky Star intro, with the golden pom poms going up. The onion logo has some satellites rotating 180, but I wanted to do something show-related. I'd also considered the shot of the girls raising their pompoms as well if you've seen the intro. My friends and I graduated as 3D Animators, and the reason I was able to do as much for the project as I did was because I lost my job working on a videogame in February ^^ They're currently working at a call center and Target, so I kinda challenged them to do it to get them back into 3D :D The AMVS4 logo I did myself just because I realized that it's about time AMVS got a bit more than text over a clip. Speaking of which I think I've updated the AMVS logo and fit 'salad' in there, I'll render tonight and let you all see what I've got.

Oh, and moonbunnychan, I wanted to ask. How was the reaction to the longer clips at Katsucon? I anticipated the Case Closed clip would get the reaction you mentioned, but since I hadn't of course seen it in audience I was trying to give it the benefit of the doubt. It was a well-cut clip after all. How did Baywatch and Hallmark do? Specifically those two are the ones I'm a little concerned about, but how did they all do? I find it hard to believe Commander in Heat and Death Note Family Guy didn't make some serious laughter.

EDIT: Oh yes, and I'd like to find out who did the Ouran coffee commercial. There's a kinda painful part in the middle where the music cuts out for a brief moment that really takes me out of it, which sucks because I'm totally into it every time ^^ I'd like to offer to fix the audio if the creator doesn't have the capability of doing so.

So...

Am I the only one that thinks at the very end of the video after the credits are over, there should be a full screen shot of the Geico money stack STARING INTO YOUR VERY SOUL?

Also, I didn't have the chance to read every comment (saw the Deuce is having issues with the harddrive) but I think we should leave *out* the AMVS3 credits at the start.... or, if we want that sort of gag, have it cut to some anime dude watching TV (with the Salad credits on the TV) after about 10 seconds then have him change the channel to "cold open" AMVS4. Possible, yes?

I like the idea of another Geico at the end. Perhaps that would give reason for a fifth clip. Ever since I mentioned it earlier I've kind been hoping for an 'end clip' now.

And I thought the AMVS3 credits were just there to simulate if this happens at the end of AMVS3 in the cons. If not, then yes, Deuce, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD GET RID OF THE AMVS3 CREDITS! If it was seriously the thought process to put the entire AMVS3 credits at the beginning of AMVS4, then I won't even be gentle, starting off with the credits of the previous one (unless you are playing them in the same video) has got to be one of the single dumbest ideas I have ever heard. It is not amusing in any way, shape or form, and has no context whatsoever.

I agree with you InspZenigata that it could work as a gag like that, but it still wouldn't be worth it for the relatively minor laugh (if they find it funny at all) it could possibly bring about. I apologize if it sounds like I'm touting my Sony POS clip here, but I really don't see a reason why it shouldn't start off. The attention-grabbing onion music was designed for just that, so I don't know why it wouldn't work.

Ah, I think you misunderstood me. The Case Closed clip was in the Katsucon AMV contest, which was back in February, and the reception to it was kinda lukewarm at best. I don't think most people "got" it. I know I didn't and kinda still don't. But I went to the AMVS3 screening at Katsu and it was a big hit.
AMVS4 is supposed to be beta is supposed to be premiering at Anime Mid Atlantic, which is next weekend. I wish I could go to it but me and my friends can't afford to do both it and Otakon, since they're so close together.

Ah, you're right, I did misunderstand. My apologies. I'm glad to hear AMVS3 is still filling the AMV Hell void ^^ I'm still angry AMV Hell never played at Otakon, but then on the flip side, that may not have left the opening for AMVS to step up and thus get me off my ass and finally make some parodies. I hope this year more creators than just myself will be in the AMVS3 and 4 screenings. I still think I was the only one who saw it at Otakon.

Oh I understand :) Actually, and I probably should have said so before, my suggestion would be "if we want some sort of between AMVS3 and AMVS4 gag". The Onion opening actually works quite well, but it seems Deuce wanted something before that as a connection...

*shrug* At this late stage I'd actually think the Sony POS thing is a wonderful "cold open".

Also... RE: attendence. I've tried to make each Tekko panel for the past three years (that's how I heard about it in the first place), and I think I caught the Katsucon '09 panel. I've seen a decent turn out for AMV Salad before, so I'm surprised Otakon isn't similar. If I could afford Otakon, I'd go.

I understood you meant if it were as a connective tissue type thing, and I agree that it's a worthwhile idea. If they were in the same video file and just playing one after the other, it may be worthwhile, but then you'd still have to play the AMVS3 credits in their entirety either way, so it may probably be more confusing than anything to play the credits then play them again to cut them off ^^ It's a good idea though, I wonder if there'd be a good place to use a gag like that with more stand-alone context.

As for the turn-out, I meant that I was the only AMVS3 creator that made the 2009 Otakon premiere from what I understood last year, so I felt all lonely that I couldn't celebrate with you guys ^^ I mean Deuce mentioning that people are gone by the credits was completely alien to me, because nobody moved at all. We reeeaally should see if we can bring credit length down though for both of them. I'd even like it if Deuce could make another AMVS3 version that removes the Gunther clip like Krvabo wanted, and speed up the credits a bit more.
