I really badly want to start making AMVs, but I have zero technical know-how. Where is the absolute most basic "getting started" guide? Something that assumes the user doesn't know thing one about video editing software, and will walk me through the process of acquiring freeware programs, and learning to use them to rip video from a DVD, manipulate mp3 sound files, and otherwise assemble an AMV.

I know it can be a bit intimidating, it's a huge wall of text
but if you take your time, you'll see what to do next.

Step by step is the way to go, take it one day at a time
and soon you'll see
you'll make an AMV
just as easy as I made this rhyme.

Actually yes this it the single most helpful guide you will find. but do not try and read it all at once. Just follow it for what ever step in the process you are doing and eventually it will become easier over time.

there are actually video guides that are a lot simpler to follow since you can follow along while watching. I would use the video tutorials where available and if you want more info, go read the written guide.
