I know of movie that is pretty much what you describing, Dot Hack//G.U. Trilogy

I would more recommend the games than the movie, though the latter has prettier scenes.

There's also more than a few "What Have I Done!?" scenes among various characters in Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion (though there's not as many of the people recovering on that anime), maybe Elfen Lied though I don't know if it's got the footage for whatever you've got envisioned. Or maybe it's too dark, though that depends on what exactly you're trying to do. I personally think the song could fit with any of these.

I think Eureka Seven and Evangelion are specifically the best freak out anime. I'm schizoaffective, I have both Schizophrenia and Bipolar, and I am still highly amused by Shinji and Renton. Also, the E7 movie sucks ass.

"ChaoS HEad" I can't really specify an episode because the whole series is basically about people breaking down due to the 'dillusions' that they experience. The protagonist is always breaking down in fear and near the end of the series, nearly all of the main characters break down because of reliving their worst fear. I will try to pick out the most notable scenes when I watch the anime again soon.
