Good calls on both. I've recently been rediscovering european-style lagers and it's slowly restoring my faith in that type of beer. When I first started drinking I liked lagers for their lightness, but eventually the taste started boring me and I also realized that they're basically just recipe for headache. However I'm finding that european lagers are better on both points. Todd finally got me to try Czechvar recently and I must say I enjoyed.

I love porters, even if for the fact that they're the complete opposite of something you'd drink to get drunk on. Just something nice to have with your dinner, rather.

Otherwise, in principle I'm partial to dark ales lately, but I haven't quite found a brand to really settle on. I guess that's where I really need to experiment moar.

Yes. Them and every other lame cheap-ass mass-market North American beer, with only a few exceptions.

Sweet. My and a friend had a conversation on how much we hated Molson Export and that's sort of what sparked that comment. If you ever want to try Canadian beer DON'T buy anything from molson. INCLUDING THIS ONE:

It's called Molson Canadian, but don't be fooled. It has nothing to do with Canada. The only day i drink that stuff is on Canada Day. And that's just because of the name.

Other then Guinness and Mead I really couldn't tell you what beer I like. Usually when I find one I enjoy it was bought buy a friend who's a major beer schnob that decided to pick up a few $50 bottles from some specialty store I'm too cheap to deal with.

Usually it's just the hard stuff for me.

Yes, I hate Molson, and I am bothered by the way they exploit patriotism by calling their flagship beer "Canadian", even though they are part owned by a USA brewery (Coors). The only way to buy a 100% Canadian beer now is to buy microbrew.

Fun fact: almost every recognizable brand of beer is owned by Inbev. Some of these beers are actually really good, but I feel bad giving money to the unstoppable Budweiser machine.

The rest are owned by Molson-Coors.

That's crazy! They sell beer in pretty much every country that sells beer. I knew there were some big names but I never thought there was something THAT big. Greedy drunken bastards. : /

Well in light of  I must say that what I really like to drink if there is  around is an irish car bomb, at least the way my friends do it.

Take some Jameson, cuz' no party is complete without it.
Add some Guinness to it in a cup.
Pour a shot of Irish Cream (Bailey's is best, but anything will do in a pinch)
Drop the shot glass into the cup and drink the damn thing before it curdles!
Repeat!
