I do vote for doing this, but since you already know how to do it, I would probably hire you to do it. And if we do wind up implementing it, then yes, I would say a subtitled and non-subtitled version. As for what the effect would be for the words and such, I would ask the remainder of the members, but I think ultimately I would leave it up to you. I just think a nice pulse jumping from the letter like in the video I linked, just not as far out. But again, Ultimately, I would leave the final decision to you.Taite wrote:I'm sure it might be easier in other programs, but in vegas specifically, you have to do two layers for each syllable. I just did it on my part, for the "Ooh, I need you baby," And there are 12 layers for the words, and the other four are audio and video.
It changes color in sync to each syllable, so you need one layer for the color-change (or whatever), and one for the original syllable. It's very time consuming in vegas, and I spent around 20 minutes doing just that one section. Plus I just chose random colors, fonts, and stuff. I made it really simple and copied that one opening where silhouettes of the words kind of jump off and stuff.
Also, other phrases, such as "Kimi no koe ga keitai de" have 11 "syllables" So you're going to need around 25+ layers, considering other phrases might have even more.
And doing the whole song will probably take 6+ hours. At least that's how long I would take, because I'm pretty slow.
But it can be done. We'd just have to figure out a color for the subtitles that would work with all parts, and also what would happen when we sync it to the syllable (will it jump, will it glow? etc.) And someone who's got the time lol
I'm sure there is a more efficient way, but this is the way I discovered in vegas.
Oh, and if we do end up doing this, I think we should offer a subtitled and non-subtitled version for release. People tend to go either way.

Re: Memories Of A Distant You MEP [1 Track Left]
I would be able to do it, but I'd like to finish my track first before I go ahead and do subtitles xD
I'll mess around with different ideas after I finish my first beta. Though any advice from other members as to what color, what font, or anything else would be cool

I really really really wanna edit track 8. Although, I think scrolling effects would be acceptable as I intended to edit the entire track and have a second layer of credits and change the opacity of the video itself when the credits came on. Then for those last lyrics have more complicated text subtitle the "Love will shine" in the center of the screen, then burst.
What do you think?

Edit your post and remove the link, so people outside of the project won't be able to see any "sneak peeks."
At the top of the page, click the (x new messages) part, then click NewPM*. Send the link to the members of the project by adding their names in the box, just like any regular old e-mail.
The problem is we don't want people seeing the tracks before the project is released.
I did download it though and will give my feedback as soon as I've seen it.
Edit:
My crit:
Your masking needs a tad bit more of work if you want to make it look flawless. I circled the areas in a screencap that you need to work on, which I'll send to you in a pm. Remember that when masking, you need to keep your points directly on the edges of the character. It looks like you masked farther away from the edges. Also, you need to smooth it a little by adding more points (or whatever they're called) so that it doesn't look as sharp or jagged. When you add less points, it doesn't have the same natural curve that a character would have.
At :17, I'd remove all the text. I believe I'll be adding subtitles on all of the tracks later, so any text isn't needed.
I think the noise and the radial blur should be decreased on the clips at :21. Just my personal opinion.
I think I'd be better if you completely removed the effects on the clip at :28. It doesn't appear to serve much of a purpose. If it does to you, then I'd make the circle encompass more of the clip, instead of just his upper body.
Otherwise, it's actually really good. Just some little things here and there, but nothing too big.
Oh, and watching carlyxjack's part made me wonder - did we decide on 720p or 480p?
And also, our finals will be lagarith/huffyuv, right?
I'll check out your beta tonight, Code.

Re: Memories Of A Distant You MEP [1 Track Left]
Carly, I love the new beta. Got a much better flow/feeling.
1) Gett rid of the greent ext and just leave the white ones. Looks better and more cohesive. There a bit work on read head's first make. It needs atad more cleaning up.
2) The last bit with the flickering black/white and color looks kind of iffy. I'd go with one or the other or a different scene.
Otherwise, I love it.

Re: Memories Of A Distant You MEP [1 Track Left]
Beta review for Inan:
The cookie-cutter effect at :16 seemed out of place. With all of the nice panning before, the cookie cutter makes the clip look flat in comparison, which is also probably due to the fact that there is no panning on the clip it's being overlayed onto. I think it'd probably look better without the cookie-cuttered Ranka and some panning maybe? Just my thought.
The very last clip didn't really match the slow-ness of that part of the song, if you know what I mean. It's like adding a crazy action scene to a slow, romance song. Probably not to that extent, but I think the last scene should probably be replaced because it's not really fitting to that part of the song.
Some of the cross-fades felt a tad too long, such as the ones at :26, :27, and :28. The first two weren't necessarily long, but when you cross-faded her while dancing, it gave an odd look to it. You can still see her moving, even up to the last frame before she disappears. I think trying different opacity settings might help or something. The one at :28 though definitely felt a tad too long.
Other than that, I really liked it. Very simple and cute. The blurs and panning in the beginning were definitely my favorite part.
