It's completely shocking they put it back on the schedule but I am happy none-the-less.
In regards to which videos will be played...I wonder how it's going to be handled this year in comparison to last. Since all the AMVs were eventually shown in 2009, we had the option to go up and request for ours to be played earlier. I have no clue how they are going to fit a hundred some AMVs at about 3 to 4 minutes each (maybe more) in a 2 hour time slot. And would it be completely fair to everyone to have a first come first serve basis?
I guess we'll all know soon enough. I'm still super excited for this development though

Well, the easiest answer to having 100+ videos in overflow and only 2 hours to show it is to cull the list in stages. If you don't already, make anything that you have as a disqualification (watermarks, subtitles, etc.) apply to overflow as well and then assess how much you have left. Apply your rule on long videos, then again see how much you have to deal with. I suppose if you have all the prescreener vote totals the next X videos could just make it in too...

If there is some master playlist that takes things like disqualifications and scores into consideration, I'd like to suggest that the old request system still be put into practice like any other overflow in the past few years in order to give those who attend the con the chance to see their video on the screen. If that is at all possible of course.

You know...wishful thinking here, but there may be just enough time to count ballots from this viewing block to actually announce at Iron Editor...maybe...Saturday...
* AMV Contest - 3:30PM - 6:00PM, Main Events.
* Iron Editor - 8:30PM-11:30 PM, Panel2.
Granted, though, a lot of people mull over their decisions and in the past there was a ballot box placed at the info table. Having a decision deadline within two hours after the Saturday showing seems a bit off for me...
Also, the 11:30PM end time for IE...seems a bit, erm, late...I wonder...
Okay, time to put my speculator's hat away and get to worrying about work stuff now...

I dunno about getting too comfortable about this schedule yet. Remember to consider the "Errata" sheet that comes with every program book. I'm counting on there being an entry declaring AMV Overflow is canceled. If I've learned anything about schedules being posted ahead of time it's never take them at face value.
Be cautiously optimistic but don't expect much.

I think that's a fair consideration for the Overflow to give priority to people actually attending the con, which Vic would already have that information from our entry forms.

Shoot, only have hotel rooms for Saturday/Sunday. Now I'm seriously considering driving up there for a few hours, to pick up my badge and watch my vid at the overflow.
Then again, I'll probably just be happy with it being shown, or hell, even if my vid is cut for time and/or I can't make it to see my vid shown there, just the overflow existing, and only the best of the best being shown.
I've gone to nearly every Otakon since 2004, with the exception of 09 because of family reasons. But I swear if the oveflow is cut for any reason after the schedule is posted, it will take some serious convincing to get me to return another year. I'd much rather spend my money on AUSA/AMA/a thousand other small cons that don't treat their AMV events as expendable. It has always been a main pull for me.
Alternatively, you could have two playlists. I assume Vic still has the scores each video received and their respective runtimes. After you've trimmed DQ's and such, if you calculate how long showing all the overflow vids in a row is, then you make a "minimum score requirement" to be put on the first playlist, you can raise the score until you've trimmed the playlist running time to match the event running time as close as possible. Then you put everything else on a second, alternative playlist, and only play those if there is extra time or if one of the creators is there.

As I understand it, people who show up to overflow get their vid bumped to the top of the playlist, right? What would the difference be between people not attending the con and not attending the specific event in this situation.I think that's a fair consideration for the Overflow to give priority to people actually attending the con, which Vic would already have that information from our entry forms.

Augh, Iron Editor at the same time as AMVS4? Now I'm seriously torn, especially since I made the finals... :/
Gah, that day is going to be painful, to be honest. Because I have a gig during the day, I'm going to miss a good amount of stuff... including the US Hetalia Premiere. I MIGHT be able to make the autograph sessions... oh well, at least it's not a series I'm completely head over heels in love with, I just really enjoy it.
Sigh. Let's hope they don't change their minds about overflow!!

I think I'll be going to the AMVS 4 premiere during the fan parodies...since I didn't make the finals and that'll be at least SOMETHING that I did work on showing at Otakon. Still sucks though...I love Iron Editor. ;_;
