Preview Box not working

Hi all! I am having a really irritating issue with my Vegas HD Platinum 10 where the preview box/video does not play properly. Everytime I try to preview what I'm making the video is incredibly choppy, playing like 1 frame every 5 seconds.
Anyone know what is causing this and/or how I can fix it? It would be greatly appreciated cause this is killing me.

Have you tried loading the preview into your memory (select a short part of the timeline, Shift + B)?

I just messed around with that a lot at your suggestion, but it doesn't seem to make any difference.

In that case, can you compare your PC to the requirements?

Vegas HD 10 is quite new and your PC might just be not able to catch up, especially if you edit in HD.

I'm pretty sure my computer meets the requirements, but maybe they don't. I'll test out an older version, thanks so much for the help!

Okay so I'm back and using movie studio HD 9. The preview box works a lot better, but its still choppy. The Shift + B doesn't seem to make a difference and I'm not editing in HD. Any ideas?

It's weird that it doesn't make any difference - do you really have a part of the work selected when previewing?

and then press shift + B?

Yes - the cursor should go slowly through the selection and then when it finishes it should be selected as a selection again and after pressing Space it should play nicely.
