Re: BONES New Anime, 'Star Driver: Kagayaki no Takuto' Greenlit!
Apparently BONES pulled another Heroman and decided to work on a manga for this anime first. =o
You can find Chp. 1 scanlated online. From the information presented in that first chapter, I quite like the story so far.
(Sugata's totally mine. xD)

Re: Star Driver: Kagayaki no Takuto
Good to see this topic in the Series section now. :3
Ugh, I have to wait until Sunday to watch episode 1. My friend wants to watch it really badly, and only can at my house for overuse of bandwith reasons at his place.
Oh well. If he comes over on Sunday, we can watch 2 episodes. :'D

Color me impressed with the first ep. There seems to be an exceedingly intricate interface/battlefield/purpose for these robots, and it's done in a very different way. The characters are all pretty interesting so far too.

If this show continues on with the same direction and tone as episode one I foresee this being the new Geass R2 with regards to North American fandom and trolling. It definitely comes off as campy for NA fandom imo.

Re: Star Driver: Kagayaki no Takuto
Alright, I have finally watched episode 1!
Hm... well honestly I think I'm going to have to disagree with a lot of the negative comments on it. =o Before episode 1 came out, I had seriously embraced the cheesiness in the name titles and all that. At this point, it was 'laugably lame', and so 'awesomely lame' in my eyes. So I went into watching episode 1 with this idea in mind.
However, one thing I can 100% agree on is its pacing: this was WAY too fast, but I didn't mind nothing being explained because the rest of the episodes allow for explanation time.
Sugata is awesome and needs more screentime.
The blue-haired test subject girl has a great singing voice (I loved the song she sang) and I really felt bad for her. I think she's basically a less personality-driven Anemone, and I really hope her story ends up happy in the end.
Takuto is actually an admirable character, and has martial arts skills. Sweet.
George NEEDS TO GET BACK IN THE GAME, MAN. XD
So... honestly, besides the pacing (and one unecessary fanservice nekkid shot of blue-haired girl), I liked it.

I feel like I'm watching an elaborate musical stage show, just without all the singing. I LIKE IT.

Re: Star Driver: Kagayaki no Takuto
One day they're going to make a series in which every transformation scene is a little different, the first series to do that will earn my "fabulous" sticker. But until then this one definitely has props, nothing says fabulous like a character who says "Dazzling the Stage!" just before transforming.
