Really bizarre problem--all clips in Vegas are tinted blue

Post by Chaobunny12 » Thu Oct 14, 2010 1:45 pm

Okay, I'm not even entirely sure how this problem happened, but for some reason Sony Vegas is now displaying all my clips with a blue tint to them. It's as if one of the screen resolution colors wasn't working, only the colors on my monitor are working fine, and the clips play fine outside Vegas. But something is clearly very wrong, and I can't figure it out. It's not just in the preview window either, it's on the timeline and it renders them that way. None of the clips have effects applied to them.

All I think of was that I did reinstall my codecs this morning because I was having other problems, but I don't see how that would make only Vegas make my files have odd colors. o__O

Video files are .avi compressed with HuffyUV, if it helps, though I think this is a problem with Vegas....

Help please. :(

You didn't by chance apply the effect to the layer by accident?

And a screenshot would be helpful :)

There's definitely no effect on the layer. It's either a codec or Vegas related problem.

At this rate, I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling my codecs like 5 times, so I might try reinstalling Vegas. -_-

There's a little grid symbol above the preview window, make sure you haven't got "Blue" selected as that also adds a blue tint to the footage.

That's not it; nothing is selected.

Here's a screenshot:

Try dragging some effect over PREVIEW window - it should open whole project effect dialogue, check if there isn't something.

Btw, your Aspect Ratio is wrong, unless you plan to flag the video afterwards ;x

I fixed the problem, it was a codec issue.

What's the correct AR for Ouran? I'm really bad with aspect ratios. xD Also, the video will have multiple anime with different ARs so I'll make it the right AR after I finish the AMV I guess.

The correct way would be flag it afterwards, but it's too much hassle, so...

It should almost ALWAYS (there are exceptions, like the Animatrix and few others in wider AR) be 16:9 (640x360, 848x480, 1280x720) or 4:3 (640x480, 1024x768). 16:9 is a standard for newer series, 4:3 you can find in older ones. If in doubt, it's always the best to check some resource - for me, AniDB works the best (and honestly, I don't remember any other site that lists aspect ratios of anime)

Judging by your video size in Vegas, I'm assuming you ripped DVDs. When you use your indexer, it should tell you the aspect ratio of the footage (hit f5 to preview in DGIndex or DVD2AVI, it will tell you in the box that comes up).
