Amesoeurs switch from english to french from song to song, but their french songs might be interesting to you. They even set some Baudelaire poetry to music. Peste Noire may be something for you as well. They also set some french poetry to music.

Unfortunately most of my exposure to French-language music is in the forms of singles, rather than being a dedicated fan of an artist. If you use iTunes, you can browse the French and Canadian (amongst other) storefronts that carry or prominently display French music and listen to previews (buying from said storefronts requires a credit card and mailing address in the relevant storefront's country). Listening to the previews and browsing doesn't require an account nor does it matter where you are geographically in the world. You could, for example, find artists/songs that way, and then go back to your own storefront and see if your country's store carries it too.

I'd suggest Stereolab but all my friends seem to hate them.

I would say Pascal Obispo, Christopher Mae, Menelik, and Sylvie Paquette. Pascal and Christopher are my personal favorites, though
