Annoyed.
Alrite so ive decided to upload my first amv to this site only to run into the 100mb limit. now i visited other topics on here and d/led the Zarx264 thing and the avsynth to go with it. i had no problems using the program and it turned my rendered .avi file (from Sony Vegas 9) which was 33 gb somehow (w...t...f so big) into about 134 mb (still short of the 100 mark) so being as irritated as I am, I ran the 134 mb mp4 through the process again. again it came out to 127 mb and now im raging cause i dont what else to try. Im sick of d/ling programs just to find out they dont quite get what i want.
as for the Zarx264 thing, i went by the documentation posted in another topic.
So...does anyone have more detailed settings or suggestions on how to fix this. i also have a 243 mb version which i rendered in .wmv (HD which is sexy). Is there anything i can do with this one instead? Either or would be awesome.
Thanks and sry to bug you guys about this. i am just raging atm and incredibly annoyed.

Re: Annoyed.
134MB is awfully big for an output from Zarx264. If you tell us a few things about the video, we might be able to help you better. We could use information such as how long the video is and what resolution are the clips you made it with (and therefor what resolution the final video is).
Another thing to note is that on the first tab in Zarx264, if mode is set to "Constant Quality" (I would keep it on this setting), the number next to "Quantizer" sets the quality. Lower numbers are higher quality but give you less compression and therefor a bigger file. Try raising the number a bit and see if the quality is acceptable. A good number would be between 18 and 22 for most anime sources as far as I know.
If this doesn't help, we might be able to help if you give us more info as well as maybe a screenshot or two.

Re: Annoyed.
Also useful would be if there was anything odd about the footage like lots of noise - it's difficult to compress.

Re: Annoyed.
nah none of that is in the video. I resized each clip during the creation process to get the hd widescreen (1280x720) so every clip is this size and most of them are HD clips. The video is 5:20 and not sure i understand noise. Most of the clips are clear, easy to see and dont have clip effects apllied. The only effect applied really are transitions and overlays o.o
and i did tweak the quantizer to about 24 and still got only about 120mb
i left the deblocking at 1 and turned off the Psy stuff etc. Left the ratio at default.
and set the audio to bitrate(128)
and i did figure out the problem. i simply switched the constant to 2 pass and it solved the problem. I set it at about 90mb. and the quality is still really decent. Thanks for the help guys and yeah this program is nice. and yes i have the latest version o.o

Re: Annoyed.
Well, a 5:20 video at 720p could very well need over 100mb to have good quality, but if you say that it still looks good at 90mb, then it's fine.

Re: Annoyed.
I'm probably gonna regret asking this, but were the clips ripped from DVDs, or were they ripped from BluRays?

Judging from this line, I guess he did upscale some clips, but most were originally HD. I guess that already explains it (kinda)?I resized each clip during the creation process to get the hd widescreen (1280x720) so every clip is this size and most of them are HD clips.

Re: Annoyed.
...hd widescreen (1280x720)???
Did you instruct the AVS script to output the resolution to something like 720x480?
And what codec did you use to render with?
I had a similar problem with AMV Salad 4 (over 24 minutes).
Being an mpeg2 file, it was pretty ginormous (although nothing close to your 33GB monolith).
My life was saved when I was shown to ZarxGUI.
I didn't have to shrink from 720x480 and got a nice 94mb AACh264 mp4 out of it.

Re: Annoyed.
Since i was a total noob with the program, i left most of the options as they were. except i turned off the PsyRay or w/e. i left the deblocking at 1 and the ratio at default since i didnt understand it lol.
but yeah most of the clips i used were HD when i d/led em. Then after importing em into Vegas. I went through each clip seperatly and resized it so that there were no blackbars and every clip was the same size. But by simply switching to 2 pass mode (even though it was not recommended), it seemed to fix the problem. And the file size was 33 gigs i guess because i left everything default or uncompressed. Guess you could say i was experimenting with avi rendering from vegas with this file lol.
