I think in the AMV community people just started to dislike Celldweller because he is overused. But I still think he is a great artist. Even though, yes you can argue that his music borrows a lot from mainstream hard rock he still is a very consistent artist who incorporates a lot of different elements into his music. Whether it is pop, metal, ambient, or orchestral trailer music this guy is just altogether a well rounded musician capable of creating some pretty awesome music. Plus he is so mainstream, doing tracks for every other videogame/movietrailer/commerical yet people still don't really know who he is, in a way that is pretty impressive.
