Would Love Some Suggestions
I just finished the first season of Big Windup, and I absolutely loved it. As such, I'm looking for similar anime to it.
1) Characters with low self-esteem finding acceptance/friends/happiness
2) Sports related, underdogs getting good.
3) NOT depressing. It can be dramatic, but I'd prefer not to be sad 80% of the time I'm watching it.
Meeting any of these would be good.

A lot of sports anime is like this.
My first recommendations would be Princess Nine and Battle Athletes.

GAH. How could I forget about that one! I love baseball to begin with, and this was on an ancient list of anime I wanted to see. #toamazon!LantisEscudo wrote:A lot of sports anime is like this.

I've already seen Battle Athletes though. Just as enjoyable.

Keep em' coming though. This is an essentially unexplored genre for me, so I'm open to virtually anything.

Eyeshield 21 might work, though I'm just going off of the first 4 or so eps and what I've heard about it.

Eyeshield 21 actually does fit all of the criteria that you listed. I've only read the manga though so I don't know if they changed anything for the anime. Chances are that they didn't though.

GIANT KILLING could probably fit in.
And I haven't personally watched it, but I always see Ookiku Furikabutte in this kind of threads.

If it's baseball, definitely check out Cross Game. It was amazing. It also needs more videos!
