Just trying to open some h264-encoded MKV's with ffmpegsource/ffmpegsource2, ffvideosource, etc. Whenever I do, it gives me the error "Can't create decompressor: Unsupported compression method".
The files open and play fine with VLC.
So, is there a certain codec/plugin I need to install? Something I'm doing wrong? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Can you tell us what mediainfo reports about the file? Video codec and its settings, most importantly.

Mmmh... That "Header stripping" sounds like it might be the header compression of mkv. Newer versions of ffms2 should support it just fine, however if it still gives you issues, get mkvtoolnix and remux the mkv making sure that the header compression is disabled. You can do so by going to file > options and checking the "disable header removal...etc" line. Also, since it's enabled in your input file, I'd make sure that under the extra options tab it's not set to do compression.

Re: Avisynth not opening MKV files
WHERE DID YOU GET THAT MKV?!?!
Somewhat more related to the issue at hand tho: VLC AND FFMS2 USE THE SAME DECODERS. UPDATE YOUR FFMS2.
