Yeah the mic is behind the face, but that's only because I used the snapshot from the video as the background. I have the mic cut out for the clip so it sits on top of the face.

I'll thin the lines out a bit. You're right on that one.
Thanks for the advice.

I think the clip will get a good laugh.. well.. I hope.. :D

Just to let you all know, I'm trying to help Scott out in coming up with an intro to Otakon, and we could use all the help and input we can get.

http://nonde.whatchulookingat.com/viewforum.php?f=12

The general idea's posted, but I'm working with him on Skype to come up with various ideas and adjustments to strengthen it. Here's the current basis. Anyone who's seen Yugioh Abridged, there's an episode where they have internet trolls who speak back and forth screaming in really quick succession. That's the basis for timing I had in mind for the intro.

That grew into this idea of Marti from This Is Otakudom basically trying to conscript the other fanparody creators to do something for this year (represented by their characters visually), but they keep coming up with various strange and/or inept ideas. A couple examples we have are "My Love Slave Totoro, 3-hour feature" and "My Neighbor Tetsuo." We need to come up with ideas like that. The base concept now is once those ideas are mentioned by the characters, there'll be a quick Family Guy-ish cut away, something nearly incomprehensible. Like two seconds. For example 'My Neighbor Tetsuo' I just figured something like "TETSUOOO!!! KANEEEDAAAA!!! *BOOOOOOOM*" then cut back to the conversation.

The idea's broken into two sections currently. First they start mentioning these fictitious parodies, mentioning them and some of them getting cutaways. Then someone would mention making a hentai parody. My personal preference is if someone mentioned it who has no business doing so, like Sasami or Shinobu from Love Hina. Then everything rapidly degenerates into everyone calling for more and more absurd things. There's a very quick example on the boards after Kirablue made a suggestion of what I pictured, using his posted example.

Essentially what we need are people who have decent mics who'd like to record some voice work, and any ideas you think might be fun for an intro. At this point it doesn't even matter if the idea isn't contained in what I described. This is all needed AFTER the deadline for AMVS5, but it needs to get rolling soon so it's not pushed too far. Scott has some fanparody creators already voicing stuff. He already has some recordings from Goku from DBZ Abridged, and he's getting a few others as well.

Please visit, share some ideas, or just send some to me, or contact Scott. Anything that comes to mind, doesn't matter if you think it's bad or not. If you think it's bad, send it to me, it may birth a better idea in discussion. Scott and I also talk on Skype here and there about this, so people can join in if they want. The more the merrier in a brainstorming session.

I've been working. :3

If anyone needs an idea, and knows Utena: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v9nq-HUHpdY
I don't know the series well enough to make anything - only seen a few episodes... but I feel like that can be worked with based on clips I've seen.

If I can get my hands on a better mic, I would LOVE to do voice work if needed. That's even an understatement. Well, I do have a good mic, but it seems to only work on Skype. So I have to figure out how to get around that.

Check into Soundforge. It should be rather cheap. I bought soundforge several years ago for like 70 bucks. It is amaaaazing, nearly every clip I make has some soundforge work done on it. It's a wonderful, wonderful program for everything, including voice work.

I bought a Shure mic recently when I quit my temp job... using my employee discount to bring it down to 150 from 250 :D And also it's a tax write off for my career. MUAHAHAH!!! It's amazing. I got the one that has the rubber holder that reduces any stomping and external sounds when the floor is affects and such. Absolutely amazing, look forward to using it. If you're interested in doing a fanparody, I'm going to try writing one for next year. In fact I'd love to brainstorm with you all on coming up with a basic premise and script on Skype or in chat. But of course that's besides finishing AMVS5.

But actually, in terms of the intro, Miko, you might like this. Re-use your well known Death Note footage. Scott wants us to use characters from previous parodies, and you did a tremendous job with Family Guy and Death Note. If there are any Family Guy lines you can think of that would fit in terms of the question "What would be a good parody?" and you could edit them, go down that route (after AMVS5, since we have a bit more time). I'm going to be looking at using Haruhi as Phil Ken Sebben again for a line or two.

---

All right, question for everyone. Energizer Bunny: still the best running gag idea? Anyone have any thoughts on good scenarios? I have a couple, in the interest of getting things going, I'll share one that came to me:

Again I was thinking of the JoJo's Bizarre Adventure OVAs, in the scene where Dio pins Jotaro under a fuel truck and both of them are punching it repeatedly. I want to loop the scene and have the energizer bunny go through and have it explode when it's mostly across the screen.

Let's get another discussion going. We're entering the home stretch.

I will look into it!

So... YouTube apparently is slacking on keeping me from uploading unlisted videos. (hint: if you are also blocked from uploading them, upload it as private, go to the actual video page and click edit video detail, click settings, and set it as unlisted. Don't do it from the "my videos" section; has to be the video url itself.) THEREFORE I can share what I cranked out last night this morning.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RhmhcnOOXEY From some Christian radio show my friend loved when she was little - she played this bit for me and I was like I NEED THAT AUDIO NAO.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JDoLZdD4U4o ...I just found this on YouTube. :uhoh:

EDIT: Idea for a running joke: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Sgk-ZYxKxM
Granted, I don't have any immediate ideas for clips, but it seems like it has amazing potential... also it was about 30 seconds since I found that clip and thought it would be good, so I'll give it time. lol.

Steph: ...that's a lot of wasted motion for uploading unlisted videos. I always go unlisted right away and all I ever get is some automated warning about how it "may contain copyrighted material from whomever." If the litigious parties don't have the link, they can't see the video. Just sayin... :book:

Also, get YouTube Downloader. To rip the audio from anything, put the URL of the video in the blank, download as "best available," then switch to convert the file to mp3.

As far as the running gag, if we used your idea, we could end the gag with the Robot Chicken version ("One of these kids is dead."). Perhaps we could integrate the Energizer bunny gag into it somehow? Hmmm...

That's the thing - I have one instance of copyright infringement on this account (they deleted my Ouran Spoofs), so they've disabled me from uploading unlisted videos at the start. I can only upload public or private, and when I go to "my videos" I can't edit the video to be unlisted - I just discovered the loophole from the video URL page. Wish I'd discovered it before I decided to delete most of my Ouran stuff....... it's the only reason I did delete, because I couldn't edit them to be unlisted without that loophole. They are damn sneaky BUT I WON etc.

I use a Firefox add-on to rip audio or video from YouTube. Did my audio on the Pea clip sound weird?

Hah, I wonder if there is a way to integrate that... I'll be brainstorming. I mean heck, I still didn't think of anything for my idea; I just wanted to throw it out there. I'm totally cool with sticking with the bunny.

Nah.
Sounded good to me.
It was cute, though.
Is that clip yours?..and the cheeseburger one?
If so, you should use them for this. ;)

The Pea one I wasn't sure about initially, but it ended well ^^ The burger one only seemed to work because it was so spastic, but then I haven't seen that anime just yet. If it has something to do with the anime, then I couldn't say if it works or not personally.

I wanna take the Robot Chicken clip of "Hogan's Heroes" and use the part where he's like "HE-HE-HEYYY YA F***IN' NAZI! HOW ARE YA! *SMASH*" if there's anything that could be used with Hetalia ^^ I'll start watching the series tonight or something so I can start assembling footage. Should be pretty fast to do once I find an appropriate scene.

---

I think we should break down what worked with the Geico Money, and maybe something will come out of it.

1) Surprise: Moonbunnychan did a great job of mixing them up enough that not everyone could see it coming. For things like the slow-build Tenchi one, and also the contrast of it starting immediately in the Haruhi one in the middle. The audience couldn't see it coming. That works for the second point too.

2) Story: There was a progression. Slow, uncertain intro with the Princess Tutu one, then a more general one with Azumanga, the 'no bullshit' one with Haruhi, the longer one that gave the audience more time to assume there was a different pay off with the Tenchi one, and a 'conclusion' with the Pokemon one. Then the icing was the 'to be continued' at the end with the story being that the geico money is unstoppable. To me, this 'perceived story' aspect is the reason it became more epic than any of us anticipated. (Brilliant work, yet again, Moonbunnychan ^^)

3) Well-known inside joke: It was absurd to begin with, but serious in its absurdity. It had purpose in the commercials, even if it was a joke. That contrast is what made it popular to begin with, and using that is what made it epic for us as well. The Energizer Bunny fits that profile as well, which, I think, is the reason it's the current best contender. What is key is that it was a stupid joke that didn't insult anyone's intelligence, a very rare combo.

If anyone else has any other observations on why it worked so strongly, go ahead and add it in. I think if we can declare what we want out of it, it'll allow something more focussed to come of it. Even if what comes of it is a better understanding of what we can do with the Energizer Bunny.

Both are mine, yes, and I posted them with the intent of running them by you guys to submit to AMVS5. :)

Ohh, believe me, it works. America is speaking, and he's talking about Japan, with whom he argues about superheroes... he also refers to England as his mom and loves cheeseburgers.

And... I haven't seen that; don't have time to look it up until later today, but yes, it sounds like it would work. There is a running joke where America is like CHINA, I CHOOSE YOU!!! and Pokemon-like battle music comes up, and China starts attacking the Axis Powers with a wok...
