Unfortunately some like to hide the real truth by making themselves sound better than others. He's probably either A: The biggest player alive and doesn't have a clue how to actually satisfy a woman. B: Is sitting at home with his beer, watching the game alone.

Don't let others get to you. It was supposed to make him sound better than you and obviously with a comment like that he's probably not much better off than you are.

Yaay for more work stuff...

Work is still crap...

We've been stupidly slow recently and keep getting sent home early. I'm talking about STUPID slow. "You just clocked in 14 hours over a full workweek! :D" slow... So, we had some talks about maybe mixing up the overnight shifts a bit. Ya know, having people come in a bit earlier or a bit later.

Now of course, when you have a supervisor ask "Who might be interested?" that doesn't exactly project the idea of "Because this will be a MANDATORY change with little to no notice...and you'll find out about it the night of via a coworkers facebook."
WAT.

Ok...I can handle this...but wait...THERES MORE :D

Coming in a bit earlier isn't exactly what we thought it would be :/
We have choices of either 6pm-3am or 3am-11:30am...as opposed to my normal shift of Midnight-8:30am. In addition to that, since we won't be considered "Overnights" anymore, we're losing our shift differential. Meaning that we're losing a dollar an hour. :/

But the bestest part is the fact that no matter what I choose, I'm going to end up either walking to or from work at 3am...in the dark...alone. And if I don't like it that I can consider it a forfeit of my job.

I called ethics on them (HR won't do shit unless it's discrimination or sexual harassment) :/ As far as I'm concerned, I don't think it's ok with company policy to force an employee to work a specific shift that has the potential to put them in physical harm. Considering I've been followed home before, I'd say that's enough to constitute danger :P

All I gotta say is, I hope that the place I've got to schedule my in-office interview with hurries up decides their hire date so I can score this job already :P I've got till May 23rd for them to get movin -.-

I have a bachelors degree and I work in a wretched customer service job.

Been taking part time classes on and off for the past 5 years to try to build up credits to transfer to a new college for a new career (health care related).

About to transfer to new school and it looks like, despite being in college for almost all of the 2000s and having a hefty load of classes ready to transfer over, it'll still take me no less than 4 years to complete a degree. With the way the classes are scheduled there, I can't even take summer classes to help myself out. 5 chemistry courses, none of which can be taken simultaneously. I won't be able to finish this up until I'm 36 or 37. Did I mention I'll probably be dirt poor the entire time too?

If I had a gun I think I'd blow my brains out right now.

Basically, if you're leaving high school now, don't be asking yourself "what you want to do" for the rest of your life. Instead, decide whether you want to make money or not (I'm not talking being "rich," I mean just ever making more than $30,000 a year period) and make your choices based on that. Because no employer is going to care about your art/english/communications degree, unless you want to work for Barnes & Noble or something.

I wish someone had sat me down and set me straight on this stuff years ago.

Also if you expect to make more than $30,000, you might be disappointed with some college paths pretty badly. Especially academia. The probability of me making more than $30,000 before I'm 35 is almost nil, even when I get my PhD in a couple of years :/

Which by the way doesn't bother me, but it is a fact of life that education != money...

In Canada you could be a teacher with that degree. They get paid well up here. It's tough to get in now though.

I know what you mean though. I couldn't decided what I wanted to do after High School so I just waited, had 2 kids in the process and now I think I'm ready to go back.
