Yup, actually now that I hear it, I probably should have said to raise the "Any Last Words" as well. Don't spike the audio of course, but raising it so that it's not too subtle would be a good idea. And now that I look at the clip again, I'm wondering if it wouldn't do well with a second or two of just a shot of Mustang or Ed with the audio from the source of right before "Any Last Words?" so it's not so abrupt a clip, just in case there's more residual laughter from a previous clip.

Other than that, you may want to make it even louder, since the "IT'S SO FLUFFY!!" is kind of throaty and fast, so I get the feeling it'll have some people have trouble hearing it when it's bouncing off walls. Scott just told me the "The hell..? D'I just get laid?" was hard to hear, so I'm upping that volume as well. Plus he/she is screaming it, so it's reasonable to be louder, but not too much more. I think you're on the right track though. Just close your eyes when you're listening and if you're like "might be too loud" then it might be. Another thing is if you're in a place with multiple rooms, let it play, then head outside the door and see what's hard to hear over two or three play throughs. The wall will muffle it a bit and see what things become a tad unclear and that'll be an indication of which areas may be troubled by speaker base. This only really makes sense when you're using multiple audio sources though.

okay thanks! ^_^ I will do that. the room trick is pretty genius and never thought to try that for volume levels before.

No problem, be careful though, it's just a poor-man's trick to give you a new perspective on the sound. Sitting in front of it and listening to it for a while can make it hard to listen from an unbiased state of mind. But going behind the wall isn't accurate for anything, it just helps you mix things up and recognize certain things being at different volume levels than others in the cases where multiple are used. So you have to be careful not to go overboard and make it blare through the wall as well ^^ It also depends what quality speakers you have, since most of us don't have production studio quality speakers. Either way, hope it helps in the future too.

So I looked over the AMA schedule they posted and there's no listed time for AMV Salad 5. they have 4 being shown at 5 but the beta isn't on the list...and what's up with the scheduling this year? seems like somethings are in really wacky time slots....

I really wish I could go to AMA, it just always falls too close to Otakon and I can't afford both (especially since I take some sort of actual vacation in summer as well).
I think though it's not technically on the schedule because it IS just a beta screening and I think he does it after showing the past one.
But if both you and Deuce are gonna be there, do you think one of you could record it happening? Last year he wrote down a list of reactions but I think it's a lot more effective to hear it yourself. And not just that, but I think it's just as important to know just not how hard people laugh but when they laugh in a clip...and how long it lasts so you don't put something behind a clip where the funny part of it will be missed because people are still laughing at whatever came before.

In every way, shape, and form, agreed. That's why I asked for one last year as well, but I think Deuce had some kind of technical difficulties that had him not able to record. I'm against recording from the front, or even telling people that you're recording since it changes peoples' natural reactions. So especially if you're in the audience SammySama, that would be great. But if you're going to be on a panel with Deuce or something, see if you can surreptitiously turn on a camera and leave it running out into the audience without telling them, either of you ^^ Even if it's a small crowd we can get a decent reaction. When I stepped in on my Haruvi Baadoman clip, I immediately started recording to get the last half. The laughs were landing around the same times and same intensities, but also one extra one because it was in a small enough room for people to hear "GO BE EFFICIENT!" So it really helps to tell which ones were getting lost last year in the audio issues as well.

I saw last year's at Otakon, Anime USA, and Katsucon, which were all varying sizes of audience, and reactions were in fact more or less the same across all three. Like all three clapped during Fraggle Rock. Granted, all three of those cons are fairly geographically close so a lot of the same people go to all three. The biggest and best response though obviously was Otakon, since it was by far the biggest audience and also brand new.

Sure I have no problem with recording the audience reaction ^_^ I usually sit in the back anyway so might as well "Go be efficient" lol. SO long as you guys don't mind my friend's commentary ...though that might be beneficial too...they tend to nit pick or they did last year anyway. If we can get wifi in the room I'll upload the video as soon as we get back from the viewing and post it so you all can see ^_^

If you can get them to hold off until the end, that'd help. You can even transcribe their thoughts here. Actually at Otakon, my friends were piiiissed at some people in front of them, or behind them, who wouldn't shut up about it. I guess somehow they'd seen AMVS4 or something and were spoiling it for them, not sure how, but they were quite annoyed afterward at the people talking over the jokes. For the purposes of the video, if we can get normal audience reaction that'd be best, so hopefully they'll recognize that ^^ If they have comments though, like I said, take 'em here, we'll listen.

I will do my very best ^_^ though if you see a group in the back duck taped, don't panic Deuce, they're with me lol. I was thinking of just standing in the back but that might give me away. Where's a helmet cam when you need one lol. But if they have any comments I'll get them to voice them at the end and be sure to add them here. One is a beginning editor who I'm trying to get involved with the project, the other..well...I'm working with her lol.
