Re: AnimeNEXT 2011 AMV Contest
Comedy and Upbeat always have the fewest number of submissions (and new genres for that matter). For this reason, if editors submit two AMVs, the Comedy and / or Upbeat AMV is almost always taken as a priority.Warlike Swans wrote:I'm happy, wonder which video of mine got in
I don't have the exact numbers in front of me, but I think the submissions looked like this (including non-competing):
Drama - 20 submissions
Sentimental - 20 submissions.
Action - 15 submissions.
Upbeat - 8 submissions.
Comedy - 8 submissions.
Trailers - 2 submissions.
NC-17 -4 submissions.
And that's pretty much how the ratios always are with any convention I've been a part of.
If you would like to know how you (any of you) rated in the Pre-Screening, feel free to contact me, (ReligionX@AnimeMusicVideos.org) and I will let you know. Please only contact me there. I'm going to be extremely busy up to and through AnimeNEXT 2011. It may take me a while to get back to you.
I will post the editors participating in the General Screening(s) no sooner than next weekend.

As far as this general screening goes, can we still send in entries even though we wouldn't be in the contest proper?

Yes. New entries are going to be subjected to drastically more critical scrutiny than ones that were submitted prior to the pre-screening. I'll be the only one rating the AMVs, and I have a 0 tolerance policy for technical errors. In the pre-screening, more than 50% of the judges had to mark a technical error for it to count, and the judges are just normal non-AMV-editor folk. "Those people are SQUISHED! " "But, the colors---! " (facepalm)Brakus wrote:As far as this general screening goes, can we still send in entries even though we wouldn't be in the contest proper?
If there are any more NC-17 AMVs, we can take those. By the sound of it, the NC-17 AMV contest isn't going to work out. We could technically still do it, but I think that since I only have about 15 minutes worth to show (with another 15 minutes of non-competing NC-17 AMVs), they'd rather just use it all as filler material for other NC-17 events. We have to start somewhere. I'm pushing for it still.
