Agreed. But for the love of god, please don't make it a gig this time ^^SammySamaProductions wrote:You should have all my clips except for the newest explosion clip (posted above) and another I'm working on now which should be in your box by the morning.
I had asked earlier if there was going to be a release of all the clips collected to get a good read on what should be cut. I think if we can get all of them on a reel and just see which ones work the best that would make the cutting process much easier. Just a thought though.

Re: AMV Salad 5: Happy Meal (ONE WEEK to FINAL deadline!)
Now as for clips to be sacrificed to the great comedy god (Went back and re-watched the test sent out) here's what I came up with. Now there is no offense intended to ANY of the editors who made these clips, I personally thought most of them were VERY EPIC but in keeping with time constraints here is my opinion.
Clips I think SHOULDN'T be cut:
-The McDonald's commercial with Hetalia. I would however request that the audio be raised at the end or throughout. It gets kind of hard to hear and I can only imagine with a room full of people will do.
-I agree with the general opinions of the Tuna clip. It honestly did it for me being the length it was but I can understand how time is an issue and it could very well be just as effective if trimmed.
Okay now I know most people get the majority of the jokes with this years Salad but there were some that I was just out of the loop for and as such didn't find some clips as funny as others. But I hope that my opinion will help make the project better for those who, like me don't get some of the jokes.
Clips to be cut:
-Please cut the "I can't believe it's not butter" clip I sent you. If we want to use it next year I'll clean it up ^_^.
-The She-ra clip although I thought was VERY clever I agree with the thoughts of cutting it, if for nothing else time sake.
-The 4chan lines, Like I said before I really don't get most of them but perhaps just using the first one would be enough? the rest go by way too fast to read IMO.
-The Lazytown clip if the sync isn't corrected. It was a very good idea but it does need some work with cleaning it up a bit.
-The pneumonia's clip needs to be trimmed or other wise cut. Although is it VERY COMICAL it really doesn't relate to the anime at all. I would be all for keeping it if it was trimmed though.
-The Sailor Moon/Frog Princess clip I think should be considered.
-Gundam Gay clip, the lip sync should be tightened up a bit.
I hope my opinion doesn't offend anyone but that's just what I think.

Okay so I saw this scene and thought it would be a shame not to use it I figure the explosion needs to be changed out but let me know if this idea is worth pursuing....

I liked it, though the explosion seemed a bit short / cut off.
It might work well with the transition video used in the salad itself (coming right after it so it seems less cut off), dunno.

Deuce, you should now have all the clips I've put together. If u have an extra explosion and wish to replace the explosion on the last on I sent you then please do. Will there be a new beta release soon? And is there anything else you need from me?

Working on the beta today as I wait for the remaining scores to come from independent AMA AMV contest preliminary screenings.
They'd better not ask me to take the department over.
June is SUCH a bad month for me.

Re: AMV Salad 5: Happy Meal (Post-Production)
The idea works in general, but it's more comical in a situational sense than a sudden slapstick 'click-boom' sense. In fact there's no real need for the click in this scenario. This one doesn't quite fit the idea, and other than that, yeah I agree the sound gets cut off as well. Good try though, it's along the lines of the subtlety, but since the anime source has something people know may be coming, that eliminates the subtlety and people know something will be coming. So far I still love your first two the most, a beautiful combo of subtlety and surprise. We just need our Tenchi clip for this year (ie - the geico money tenchi one where nobody really saw it coming even if it was right in front of their faces).SammySamaProductions wrote:Okay so I saw this scene and thought it would be a shame not to use it I figure the explosion needs to be changed out but let me know if this idea is worth pursuing....

A friend mentioned the PERFECT example of a way to make it subtle. Sword in the Stone. He came up with it on a whim, but the idea fit, even if I can't think of any anime scenarios. Basically, you have something important occurring with the Sword in the Stone moment, everyone's eyes are on it, and then the sword is inserted and it triggers the explosion. Subtle enough that nobody knows exactly what'll happen, but sensible enough because it's a major event. Just like Ryo-Ohki hatching. So it's that type of scenario I think we're looking for. As I work this week, I'm thinking about what will work while I prepare a few more smaller clips, including captpan6's being up-ressed.

I thought it was an explosion when the sword is pulled out..?
Then I would have suggested the scene where Black*Star pulls it out successfully and then DTK tries it and gets 'sploded.
Or maybe Black*Star gets 'sploded right away..?

Re: AMV Salad 5: Happy Meal (Post-Production)
Remember, you've GOT to keep in mind the 'click.' The click is a trigger, literally. I don't mean something arbitrary, I mean it quite literally is a button press and then an explosion instantly. The fun is WHAT is pressed, that's where you get creative. You can make any action a trigger as long as it's done with conviction. I've forgotten the episode you're talking about, but I'll have to look. Again, think back to loony tunes. Like when there's gas or gunpowder in the room and someone is frantically trying to start a match. That's sort of 'multi-click' in fast succession. There are many different types, this one's just one of many, that's why they sometimes meld together.Deuce Loosely wrote:I thought it was an explosion when the sword is pulled out..?

You're right though, I should have specified about the sword being put in. Think of the scene in the Disney version where Kei puts it back in, that's kind of what I mean. Nobody would expect it. Pulling the sword out is a definitive action, but it's like a backward action, like you're retreating almost. Think about it, pulling NEVER triggers an explosion in any instance anywhere, it's why it doesn't work psychologically. We are conditioned to believe that pushing something causes explosions, and as such, we use that as a tool to affect the psychology of the audience. They're unconscious to the fact that they subconsciously recognize that connection, so we use that lack of awareness against them.

There is a sword in the stone in Tears to Tiara. There's also a scene when Arwen puts the sword in the stone too.Gaelstrom wrote:
