I have it converting to utvideo yuv I think it was. Hopefully it works with premiere cs5. I don't think that would matter though since its still avi. Just want the video to not lose its nicee resolution

What resolution is the mkv? If it's a full resolution blu-ray rip, you will want to handle it differently depending on what you're doing. But seeing as I still don't have a blu-ray drive, I don't know the process.

Its 720p so it sits at 1280x720 I think.

720p BD rip by some shitty fansubber it seems. Also using the wrong framerate for no real reason. I'd say it's some bullshit about SEI headers in THORA encodes but FFMS2 hasn't been patched to reject those out of principal yet. No idea what causes the problem with names though, none of it seems to be the usual UTF-8 issues in windows.
