Oops, my bad -- I thought he used that studio name, didn't realize anyone else did.
THAT makes more sense now....

i'm confused about something, why was Son of Man put into the action category? if we were given the choice of which category to enter i'm certain i chose Upbeat. and if not upbeat, then drama. :?:

I totally agree, yet this perplexes me because AMV contest screenings are almost always entirely packed. :?

That's why I run contest only where I got a lot of influcence or say in the matter... However it does seem that way at several places.

I assure you that given the context of the Dramatic Serious (and equally so for Romantic / Sentimental) AMVs, your AMV would have been as inappropriate as a clown at a funeral. And in the reverse, it seems a majority of con-goers (according to their audible reactions) found most of Upbeat / Dance to be overall funnier than Comedy / Parody. We did the best we could given the context of all other AMVs in the contest. This is why all AMVs were placed where they were. You could argue that (AMV 24) and (AMV 28) shouldn't have been in comedy, but both the pre-screening judges and (more importantly) AnimeNEXT audience thought they to be more comedic than anything else. When I get a chance (hopefully today), I'll post the links to the AMVs (available). After seeing at least a few of the AMVs in each genre, I'm sure you'll agree.

Not the main events showing at AnimeNEXT -- it was kind of dead in there. Of course, that could have been because whoever did scheduling (not ReligionX) scheduled it for 11 AM on Friday... and the encore screening, in part of the ballroom, was at 3:30 on Sunday and similarly sparsely attended.

The other contest screenings were packed, but they were also in a room with a capacity of about 50 due to the last-minute mixups.

I was at the con and I gotta say that the main showing got screwed over so bad by the timeslot and the fact that it was put in between the vendors room and artists alley while they were being opened on friday. I hardly agree with the choices for who won, but I gotta say that the AMV showings were really enjoyable and I was happy that I took the time to fly to New Jersey from Missouri.
