Re: AMV Salad 5: Happy Meal (CLOSED)
Okay, cool. I got it and watched it.
I'll be as quick as I can:
New Dokuro: No beating around the bush here. This sucks compared to the original. How did fixing the jittery footage in the first two cuts at the beginning turn into changing it entirely? Put it back to the original, this just isn't really funny at all. Like I've said countless times. The only reason it worked for a human exploding at all was because Dokuro-chan was the one using the bat. The only problem was the first two shots of them walking on the street being jittery. You don't need to worry about lipsyncing the song, you can't tell you were trying to lipsync anyway. Just let the footage be smooth.
Seriously. Switch back. This is now a bad clip. Make sure you use the explosion of the house/car/whatever it was exploding from the original too. That pixelated explosion has no context to it and just isn't as funny.
Sailor Moon Transformation Central: It fades into the test pattern. Minor, and easily fixable.
Fluffy: The Sailor Moon Fluffy is still a little too low. Can you boost it a few decibels? Same with the FMA one at the end, the Fluffy AND the explosion sound a little low. Don't go too high with the explosion, but the fluffy should definitely be a bit higher.
Credits: The yellow really does feel strange. But yeah, bring back everyone's tags to full size. It's just not as entertaining without them being full size for some reason.
Gundam: Unfortunately the Gundam clip isn't as funny with the credits over them. The still frames don't work now that there's movement over them. Since we have so much extra space at the end of the song and you just have that giant red sign, let's just cut to the Gundam clip and not have the credits run over it. I'm going to upload another version, with the same fizzle in that I did last year. It'll be up shortly.
Everything else is as good as it's going to get I guess. I still don't like how we end, but we don't have any time to worry about it now.
I'll get you that file as soon as possible. We now have plenty of time to finish the credits, so this should work a bit better I think.
EDIT:
Here you go, Deuce:
davidkrein.net/GundamFailInterrupt_DV.rar
When you place it, let the lyric for 'explosion' finish. You kind of cut off at "Explosio-" "Now then..." so let that word finish, since it'll actually subconsciously put the idea of an explosion in their mind, and then cut to this clip WITHOUT the credits. Anyway, don't worry, we have plenty of space for the credits. Actually that last red screen did more to hinder attention than the credits would. Try not to ever use deep red, Deuce. It takes far too much energy for the human eye to look at deep red. It's scientifically proven to cause people to get angsty, so it's really not the best choice.
Either way, remove that sign and let the credits finish now that the clip's being replaced and the time should be about right.

I agree on the Dokoro-chan clip, the prior version was better.

I changed the Dokuro back and made fixes but found a more suitable (albeit live-action) house explosion.

Actually nevermind. Please switch back to the anime explosion. I hadn't noticed you said live-action before. Please don't try that now with mere hours left. Do NOT. Seriously. It's just not worth it because it will be completely out of place compared the others and even itself. Please, for the love of god just trust me for once on this stuff. You said you trusted me last year. Trust me now. I know what I'm talking about. Just please use the old explosion. I was trying to beg you to do that in the last one because I didn't want to tell you because I thought you'd get the message. Now I'm telling you. USE THE OLD ONE!
Edit:
Credits work much, much better now I think. Since the joke for the gundam one relied so much on still frames, having movement over them harmed the joke more than I thought it would. I hadn't considered that before. And the timing is perfect for the end of them as well. And it even felt stronger with "Who's got time, to watch and explosiooon?" *cut* like it was in response to the question.

We're nearing the cut-off. What's happening? We need to get the stuff to Scott before 6 his time. At least we have to get him a message letting him know.

It's in mid-upload.
I'll be sending him a link as soon as it's done and sharing it with y'all.
I thought the deadline was 11:59pm tonight (his time is EST, as is mine).
He'll have the link before 7:30pm.

Awesome, hopefully everything will be fine. At the very least it's accessible from anywhere, so even if he is on his way to the con for the weekend to get things on the servers, someone with a computer will be able to grab it.Deuce Loosely wrote:It's in mid-upload.

And sorry for getting so angry, Deuce. I have a severe pet peeve about people on a project changing things without checking with the others on a project. You won't believe how many times people have done it on projects I've been on and it just keeps happening. And each time they did it, in nearly every case, it wasn't for the better. So please trust us when we've approved something to go ahead. I know there's a penchant to think last minute things need to be changed right before send-off, but that should never happen if it can't go through some form of checks and balances. On a game I worked on, a last-minute change actually set us back a week and a half and lost the company money. This may be a hobby of ours, but it's the same type of thing, so I sincerely hope you changed it back.
Anyway, here's hoping for a strong Salad at Otakon.

I think it will be as strong as horseradish dressing, garlic croutons, and hot pepper sprinkles.
