[Winner of EVERYTHING at AWA] Moe! We Got It!
To bad I didn't start it till after the deadline ... I need to get better at stuff like that.
One day I was driving along, and an old familiar song came on the radio … We Got the Beat by the Go-Gos … Almost immediately images of K-On! came into my mind, for the song sounded like something they would play. In addition, the lyrics were so cheesy that Mio could have written them; and then it occurred to me that the Go-Gos have five members, and so does H.T.T. by the middle of season 1. So, I was all like “I gots to doooo this!”
P.S. Bandai Entertainment produces the WORST DVDs of any company. They ought to be ashamed.

You used 30fps for an AMV that uses footage that was produced at 24fps, YOU should be ashamedJudgeHolden wrote:P.S. Bandai Entertainment produces the WORST DVDs of any company. They ought to be ashamed.
That said, rather fitting source/song combination and I enjoyed this AMV. Black screen text was basic and worked well, but the character name text alongside the shaky "show style" music bars and Japanese text at the bottom looked out of place. You probably could have done a wireoutline style text (dropping out the white in the middle) much like the Japanese text used at the botom and it would have visually fit a bit better. You wouldn't have to make it shake like the show text, however, if you wanted to accomplish that it's not hard, just create 3 variations of the text and alternate them randomly.

Bandai put it out in 29.97 fps on the dvds. Interlaced it ... and in some scenes, noise that could make your eyes bleed.l33tmeatwad wrote:You used 30fps for an AMV that uses footage that was produced at 24fps, YOU should be ashamedJudgeHolden wrote:P.S. Re: [Winner of EVERYTHING at AWA] Moe! We Got It!
29.97 is a technical spec that has to be met for DVD authoring, and interlacing is used so that 24fps context can be played back on 30i based equipment without juddering footage. I'm mainly just giving you a hard time, a lot of good editors use the 30 FPS too, most of the time it's not noticeable (if they didn't alter the base speed of all the clips and a pan shot comes up, OUCH it's noticeable). Anime is pretty easy to work with and most of the time the shows are only animated at like 12fps and there is irregular movement with the characters so using a 30fps template for editing while using raw untouched 24fps footage won't tend to show side effects (unless it's a pan shot). That said, I've screwed up footage when creating a video at the proper FPS for that footage when altering the speed of certain clips, so I'm not perfect ! The Blu-ray for K-ON! looks amazing btw, I'm glad that didn't get screwed up !JudgeHolden wrote:Bandai put it out in 29.97 fps on the dvds. Considering that their Code Geass DVDs (after cutting out the OPs and EDs) could just be straight Force FILMed to make them 24fps progressive with absolutely no problems, I'm a little amazed at this statement... Do they always use the same ice house?
