It was cute.

Definately no Safety Dance, but enjoyable.

Cute. The text inclusion seem a little odd, though.

And their comrades-in-arms, Media Blasters. Or Manga Entertainment.

I've never had any bad experiences with Bandai's discs that I can recall (actually, quite the opposite - some of the best discs I've dealt with have been theirs), although I know they royally screwed up on the early Mai-HiME discs a few years back (had to do with using a different authoring house, I think). That said, I can't speak about K-ON!, because I got/am getting the Blu-rays.

Great work Judgeholden! This is the first time you've done text that I really REALLY enjoyed. :D

It was just a great AMV that was ridiculously catchy and just FUN to watch/loop. Makes my time at work much better now. XD

Highly reccomend.

Now, I should have stated that I'm talking about Bandai USA, not the japanese branch (remember all the pizza hut logos where rotoed out of Code Geass for the U.S. release).

Here are some examples of Bandai USA releases on DVD ripped straight from the DVDs.

Lucky Star Anime Legends release (basically the DVDs repackaged)

Haruhi Season 2

The K-ON ones aren't as bad, but I was speaking (venting) of Bandai in general (also, the main issues are with the textless OP and EDings, but you can find them throughout their DVDs ... don't get me started on the rainbowing on the Lucky Star DVDs).

However, since this is the quality they release on DVD ... I was scared to buy the BDS of K-On. :ying:

For one, those are bad example screenshots as whatever you are using to display those is improperly stretching and causing additional pixelation and scan lines. I would like to point out that the limitations of the MPEG-2 codec when it comes to compression and the heavy amounts of colors used in those scenes that are super high paced with lots of movement, making it harder to compress. Even the Japanese DVDs had a problem with the Haruhi example you posted. Blu-ray's standards make it HARD to screw up the video unless you tamper with the source before encoding. The only thing that wasn't outstanding in the BD release was the audio, they chose to go with a lossy audio track instead of lossless. I would recommend getting the K-ON! Blu-ray release, it's worth repurchasing even after buying the DVDs.

I'm also talking about Bandai USA. I had to find the Japanese footage for the few scenes that required the Pizza Hut logos, but the rest of the time, I was using the R1 DVDs.

Those OP shots do look horrid though. But with motion and colors like that, I'm not sure you could make it any better in MPEG-2 without going out-of-spec on the bitrate...?
