I sat and watched a friend of mine play SW:OR beta for about 3 hours the other night...I was..well, really really underwhelmed with the whole thing. They seem to have spent most of their budget on the cutscenes, which are nicely done, but also can't really be skipped. Some of the character animation is simply atrocious and hard to look at. And the water...oh god the water...it's just a flat, blue, not-transparent surface that has no "hey I just jumped in water" effect.
To be fair, my friend was playing it on it's highest settings, and her GPU is a boss. I might have a different perspective if I were the one playing it, but we had very similar views on everything we were looking at with the game. Yes, it is only a beta, but the game is supposed to come out in like, what a month or two? I highly doubt they can fix what I saw in that amount of time. If you're considering this game, do yourself a favor and wait just a little bit after it comes out and see what the reviews are like on the final game.
To quote my friend, she said something like "man, if I had paid for this I would be REALLY PISSED right now...so glad I got into the beta."
