Because other people don't make things I want to see.
This is partly why I'm so reluctant to actually work on things like MEPs and rarely enter contests competitively - unless people nag me. It's not that I don't like these things. But honestly speaking, I don't really care whether I'm good at editing or whether I can accomplish things as well, or better, or worse than other people. I hate the technical side of editing. I don't want to deal with pretenses at art and originality, either. I just want to see certain things visualized, and AMVs are an easy way to do so and the .org is a good structure for doing so.
Heck, if someone with the same musical tastes as me showed up on the .org and actually made decent videos, I'd probably happily retire! But that doesn't happen. Other people probably can do what I do with editing, and probably do better at it. The problem is that noone actually does. So, I keep making my own stuff to scratch the itch to see something specific every once a while.
But that's purely the editing side of it. Then there's the community side, and I probably wouldn't really be involved in AMVs or even video editing generally if it weren't for some awesome people I met here. They've done a lot to inspire my imagination as far as visualizing things. It's also kind of nice knowing you'll have at least a little bit of an audience and a creative scene to be involved with by way of editing. It's even nice to be prodded by friends or by going to cons into making more stuff every once in a while. So, that's the other side of it I guess.
The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…
! I have made videos that I didn't think anyone would enjoy just for fun. I was actually expecting Rough Love to be hated due to the audio source, lol...
