Post by Prodigi » Tue Jan 10, 2012 7:13 am

EDIT: TRACK LISTINGS AND SIGN-UPS GOING UP TUESDAY 17/1 AT 8:00PM (GMT+8). SIGN-UPS WILL BE OPEN UNTIL TUESDAY 24/1 AT 8:00PM (GMT+8).

It is time.

What is Reflections of Style?

For those of you unfamiliar with the Reflections of Style series it can be summed up in the words of creator SnhKnives:

"The Reflections of Style projects started out back around March of 2003. I recruited a group of friends together to take place in a multi editor project that had a bit of a twist on purpose. The idea I had in mind was to use a mix of electronica music to display the unique editing styles and methods of all the editors involved in the project. The same concept was implemented into the 2nd edition of the project."

By the 3rd generation the music was changed up a little to allow for a wider variety of editors to jump on board.

Let me see the vids!

Why bring back a full-length project 5 years later?

Back in February 2006 when sign-ups began for Reflections of Style 3 I was introduced to Brad (then AtomX) by Jay (Koop kooper) and was encouraged to sign-up/apply for a track in RoS3. Prior to this I had never been a big part of the community. Working on that project was one of the things that helped me become a more interactive member in the community. Some of the best friends I have now are org editors and I can trace that back to when I joined RoS3.

I'm hoping to not only provide the community with a totally kickass visual and audio experience when they watch the final product of this project, but also to help people make more friends and become more active in the community.

What's different this time?

Live-action! That's right. Bring out your sweet Hong Kong kung-fu thrillers or your sci-fi epics with the sweeping motion and intensity that only live-action filming can offer. TV shows, films, it doesn't matter as long as you can make it your own and really sell your audio to the viewer.

But I've never edited Live-Action D=

While it is helpful if you have edited with Live-Action before it's not a necessity. Anyone who has edited with it before can tell you that it's not quite the same as Anime, some different rules apply and sometimes things just flow different. But, if I'm more than confident in your AMV editing skills, then I'll be fairly confident that you'll be able to work your way around any potential problems. So don't fret. Too much.

What kind of standards are you looking for?

Obviously, as has been the case with previous installments, Reflections of Style demands a pretty high-standard of editing. The crowd wants something spectacular. However, in saying that, I'm totally open to the idea of 'new blood' editors applying, as long as you can provide me with an example of how good you are. It won't matter if you're someone I've never had dealings with, or if your name is Brad and I sleep on your couch 1 month out of every year. This will become more apparent in the sign-up thread that will be hitting the forums in one weeks time.

Is there anything else I should know about what will be expected of me if I join?

Yes. You must play well with others. This is a multi-editor project. Flow is one of the most important aspects of the RoS projects and this one will be no different. It simply is not something you can accomplish on your own in just your track.

How do I apply?

You don't. At least not yet. This is a sort-of interest gauge. The mix is available and ready to go for people to give it a listen and start imagining what they might like to work with.

The sign-up thread will go live in one week hitting a forum near you, complete with finalised track listings and the technical specs of the project.

With all that out of the way I'd just like to say I'm super excited about this project. It's been sitting in the back of my mind for almost 5 years now until I finally got off my ass a couple of months back and started actively thinking about songs and mixes.

Hope you like the mix, and if you're interested then give a shout out below so I can get an idea of how little or how many tracks I might want to divide up based on the mix and general interest.

Well, since new editors are allowed to show interest then I'll throw my hat in.
