YouTube [High Quality Preview]
I'm proud to present you guys, Ascended, a project I had been working on for the last couple of weeks or so. It's one of those videos that had me hooked till the end.
I was really getting drawn into it, as I progressed and had a really great time working on this.
Ascended is more of a abstract work, and doesn't really follow a story in particular, but it does represent something.
It represents in believing and reaching out for your goals, beliefs, dreams, and to never give up in achieving them.
Hope you guys will enjoy it. As always, comments, and criticism are welcome.

Re: SeNniN [dps] ASCE/\/DED
the concept feels like BS to me. feels like you made the vid, saw some scenes of people reaching, and just labeled it with that concept. i used to do it all the time but the videos never really portrayed the concepts without me explaining it, same with this one. it's just song+anime=amv
aside from that, this has the exact same issue as your kenshin video, editing just doesn't fit the song. Unlike last time, though, you picked an anime that went with it a little more and that actually helped a lot and saved it from being really boring, this time it just had nothing special in it and was pretty lackluster. doesn't feel like much effort was put into it i guess. the editing did pick up but not by much. i think you just need to choose songs that fit your style more or pick up the tempo with the sync.

We just differ in editing taste. You have a different take on how things are done, and just fail to see it being done differently.gote wrote:the concept feels like BS to me. feels like you made the vid, saw some scenes of people reaching, and just labeled it with that concept. i used to do it all the time but the videos never really portrayed the concepts without me explaining it, same with this one. it's just song+anime=amv

If the concept didn't come off as clear to you, then it does not necessarily mean that it was just thrown in there for the sake of having a theme. As far as sync is concerned, it's all there, that is, if you watch it carefully. I'm a little confused since it appears your definition of sync is if I change the clips on every single beat, or throw flashes in there? Because if you watch it, you'll find that it is synced with the song.
As with any of my work, I mostly sync to movement, or anything I can sync with in each clip. There are several ways of syncing something, not just one. Same with slayer, I did sync to almost everything with the song. The only things left out were few random sounds in the bg I didn't find necessary syncing with. Like I said, we just differ in how editing is done. You find something that isn't sync to your liking boring and lackluster, but that doesn't mean it isn't done properly. It just means it isn't done to your liking, and there isn't much I can do about that.

i didn't say you actually did slap the concept label on it at the end, it just feels like it. and i don't plan on creating concepts for vids at the end, and i haven't done it in a while, it was just something kinda fun i guess. i don't believe in it or condone it.
There was too much external sync for it to be FOCUSING on internal sync, so this video was MOSTLY synced with clip changes. i've been watching it pretty carefully and the main parts i'm having trouble with don't have any internal sync, at least none that's really apparent (could be very subtle, but if that's the case then it just fails to do its job). although there is some in there, it's just not where i'm having problems at.
i'm a big fan of internal sync, if it's done well, i believe in a lot of cases it can be way more effective than cutting. i don't know why you just assumed i wanted there to be flashes in it, i usually complain about flashing, in fact i think i saw some in this video and it was a bit of a turnoff but not enough for me to bring it up. I watched the video, figured you were focusing on external sync because the video is 80% cutting, and then with that i felt just a little bit unimpressed, but if your "focus" was internal sync or "sync to movement" then i'm WAY WAY unimpressed and you can really do a whoooole lot better as far as that goes.
the sync wasn't bad, there just wasn't enough, no matter how you were going about it. if you were using cuts, use more cuts. if you were using internal, either use more internal, or more obvious internal.

As far as I can see, I did sync to it with both external, and internal sync. If your having a hard time seeing the sync there, then I honestly don't know. And there are no flashes used in here, I'm not sure where you even saw one? care to point out? It's just as I've said, it's more of personal taste in editing than anything. You think more cuts would make it better, but it's just not how I wanted to edit this.gote wrote:i didn't say you actually did slap the concept label on it at the end, it just feels like it. and i don't plan on creating concepts for vids at the end, and i haven't done it in a while, it was just something kinda fun i guess. i don't believe in it or condone it.

Although i'm not so sure about the way the concept is portrayed, i agree with Milk at the rest. Actually liked the song/video combo, it wasn't all that atmospheric, but i found 'em to combine well.Milk Or Life! wrote: ..Feels somewhat different but i cant see anything wrong with sync, i think scenes can feel somewhat flat..

yea I'm sure the concept wont come off as clear to everyone else, and to be honest I never really intended it to be. I mean everyone have their own take on the concept regardless of what the author intentions were, and I don't see anything wrong with that.Sephirothishere wrote:Although i'm not so sure about the way the concept is portrayed, i agree with Milk at the rest.
