Re: Videos You Regret Not Finishing
4 videos between 2005 and 2011.
1) In 2005 there's my ROS2 track that I never finished (I think that was 2005). I was really excited to do it and I had a cool vision for what I wanted to do. I never really got to do what I wanted though because of whatever. Just wasn't turning out right so I eventually got burned out trying to get it to work. I come back to it and watch it from time to time wondering what it would've been like if I had finished it but that was 7 years ago now so oh well. I had done a bit of a hack job on my ROS1 track so I wanted to do something good this time around.

2) In 2006 I started a Cowboy Bebop video but only ever edited the end of it. It was more or less an experiment in using different colored fades. If you watch the video, I do a fair amount of fading to the beat but the ones with Spike I used a white background and the ones in black are the baddies. There's one part at about 10 seconds where I did some fiddling to get the left side white and the right side black to match which character was there. I've attempted to come back to this video several times over the years but never went really far with it. Eventually I'll come back to it I guess but not anytime soon.

3) Another video I started in 2006 was to Ghost in the Shell. I was trying to go for something moody. About 50 seconds in it falls apart though and I do some crappy editing. I think that decision really turned me off from finishing it because it was a really bad idea. I liked where I was going with it though so it's another one of those videos I look back on and wonder if I should start it up again.

4) So lets skip 4-5 years. I semi-started a video using Full Metal Panic. It would be another drama/romance video similar to This Time but much less on the action. I ripped all my sources, I edited the song I was using to work the way I wanted. I only ever placed maybe 5 clips on the timeline. I experimented with different styles to try and get the look and feel just right but I lost all motivation to edit it. I really like the song and I really want to see a video to it but I just can't do it. The project and all the files sat on my hard drive for a long time. I only recently deleted the project. I have asked several other editors if they'd be willing to edit the video but none of taken up the challenge yet. I think about going back to it a lot. Unfortunately, no video of this one.

My Sportscenter AMV from 2004-2005...it was going to be my tombstone video. I'll try and find a link to it later.
I also had a cool looking Violence Jack AMV I started around 2002-2003 that had some promise but I never finished it.

I have several ideas I've not even started on that have been swept under a rug, but only one that I started and gave up on. I don't regret it because it was really lame and yeah, I should have never started it in the first place.

the first thing I wanted to do was the entirety of The Downward Spiral, kinda like The Eva Wall, just with different animes. I did like, 2 or 3 of them, but then kinda dropped it
I've always thought this was an awesome intro though, and wish I could have used it

It's complete enough to me, but to make it legitimate by editing the full song would be nice. Too bad I ran out of clips and lost the file in a hard drive crash. Oh well

Re: Videos You Regret Not Finishing
Mihan, my Persepolis video.
A part of me would have loved to have seen it finished (as it is with any video I scrap). However, I held onto it for too long. My editing style had since changed drastically and it eventually became a huge struggle for me to get motivated to work on it. I tried working on other videos, but I would quickly scrap them because I would tell myself to finish this one instead, and it never happened. After a while I grew to hate it more than anything, and that was when I decided it was time to let it go.
I guess because my scrapping it is still pretty fresh in my mind that I regret it so much. Over time I think I will feel more relieved that I let it go and pursued other, better projects.

Re: Videos You Regret Not Finishing
2006 was the only year since I started making AMVs that I didn't complete any. But it wasn't for lack of trying.
That was the year I started a rather ambitious project, a video that was a crossover between AMVs and Animutations, chock full of mondegreens, odd things happening to still images, and at least one appearance of Colin Mochrie. Oh yeah, and the imagery would also have lots of DDR in-jokes like this:
(I think my plan was for Chiyo's Dad to be "THE FIYING DOG" [sic].)
Also included would have been a shout-out to Mortal Kombat II, Steve Ballmer hurling a chair and attempting to !@#$ing kill Google, and an "X? In *my* Y?" joke.
Almost six years later, it's still sitting unfinished on my hard drive. Unfortunately, I doubt I will ever finish it now, because I never did get enough cool/silly ideas to fill up the whole timeline... but also because I worry that not nearly enough people in the audiences at conventions would get these jokes anymore. (I think my fear is justified; I don't think those audiences still contain very many people that have seen any Animutations, have played the pre-ITG DDR games, or know that "Toasty!" didn't start with Stepmania.)

Re: Videos You Regret Not Finishing
I remember back in early 2006, presenters at the Independent Spirit Awards performed song parodies based on the Best Picture nominees. The song for Kinsey used the tune of "Windy" by The Association, and it was really catchy. I had a Goldenboy video planned out for it shot by shot, but I never managed to make the video. By the time I figured out how to (try to) get the file off my DVR, the recording had already been deleted. Sad day.
Incidentally, I miss TV.

Re: Videos You Regret Not Finishing
My True Tears video is technically an unfinished AMV. It cuts short at the end, but I released it as a full anyways...and now every time I watch it the ending makes me cringe because of my horrible laziness.

Then that guitar thingies popped up and went dun dun DUN dun then those box thingies went zooming by and twirling around and shit. Oh god, then the hexagons popped up and I was like 'I just got a stiffie'. Then there was the circle with those thingies going around and I blew my load.
