Re: AMV-France Online Contest
First batch of entries are pretty interesting!
Other Love Story - 5CM per second videos are rather overdone at this point, and I can't say that this really brought anything new to the table. It wasn't offensively bad, yet it also wasn't particularly amazing either. A solid video through and through. The raw TV Simulator effect made me go "><" though. A little too much lip-flap to consider passable at 2:09. Visual quality was a little iffy.
Naruto's Revenge - Pretty sure I know who did this one. And he's certainly made some substantial progress here (transitions are much better, even if there's a little too much "push.") However, there are some spelling errors in the subtitles, and the spacing is sometimes all over the place (brushing up against the very bottom of the screen, sometimes it's in the direct center, etc.) I'm still not sure how I feel about these types of music videos... the music is almost incidental, and it feels more like a REALLY long trailer than a music video.
Despite that, there's some good dramatic tension and it tells a convincing story (albeit relying heavily on the text to carry it).
Go And Don't Stop - Classy video. I really enjoyed the masks and all the effects. Very well thought out visually, but a little shallow when it comes to theme. But I take it it's supposed to be a technical showcase and it certainly succeeds at doing that! The only viable complaint I have is that the visual quality gets pretty sketchy at times... like at 00:46-00:48... pretty major artifacting going on.
