Beat ME3 this morning. I'm conflicted about the ending. Part of me is OK with it but part of me is not.

Still trying to come to terms with it myself. Then again, my headcanon can make a lot of stories out of it.Pwolf wrote:Beat ME3 this morning. I'm conflicted about the ending. Part of me is OK with it but part of me is not.

Re: What are you playing?
Now that I've finished Mass Effect 3, I'm going to hit up some XBLA stuff. I am Alive is first, then going to smack Duels of the Planeswalkers (Magic the Gathering).
I also look forward to THIS when they finished with the remake. Mother 1 = Earthbound Style. HELL YES.

Re: What are you playing?
Still messing around with Fallout 3. The more I play it, the more it pisses me off. There are several reasons.
One is the fact that, during random exploration, I stumbled upon a location that shuold've been visited a bit later. So, I loaded the game before going there and went about my business. I finished one of the story quests, which should've given me info about the dad as a reward. What do I get? "Hey, nice of you to help, but since you already know about your dad, here's some stuff instead" WHAT? No, I don't... So I go to the location which I found earlier and people start talking to me about shit I have no idea about. Confused, I check in a walkthrough and it turns out I missed out on a whole location I should've visited as part of the main plot. But I had no idea I had to go there because noone effing told me... GRRRRRR!
The combat system blows. I loved the turn based combat in FO1&2. Here it just comes down to VATS -> head -> repeat. And I get the same bloody animation each time I get a critical kill, which really got tiresome after a while. But guess what, I can't turn it off
Inventory/maps/quest log interface I got used to after a while, but it still annoys me. It could've been much simpler.
Quests are mostly uninspired. There are very few characters I actually liked/enjoyed talking to. Weapon\armor degradation mechanics are executed poorly - it would've been much better to have a maintenance tool of some sort instead of having to drag around tons of additional equipment for repairs. I could go on. Honestly, I have no idea how this game got such great reviews. Personally, I would've given it a 6/10 at best.

I hope New Vegas is better than this....

Re: What are you playing?
New Vegas does improve the feel of combat and feels more like the originals. VATS got nerfed a bit in NV and they added lots of challenge perks. So fighting without VATS is satisfying and very useful. In Fallout 3 the Grim Reapers Sprint perk gave all your VATS points back with a kill while in VATS. In NV it changed to like only 20 points not all. If you took the Bloody Mess perk then you'll nearly always get the same kill animation. If you're on PC you can remove it or tweak it.Kosmit wrote:I hope New Vegas is better than this....
Quests seem about standard as RPGs go, mainly fetch/dungeons with a few epic ones. As far as repairing goes I think it works great. I thought it was dumb to carry a repair hammer in Oblivion that just fixes everything. And in NV you can get a perk that widens the materials for repairing equipment. Of course in Skyrim they got rid of repairing all together and replaced it with smithing. And then there is all the crafting and stuff you can do in NV, especially useful if playing in hardcore mode.
Overall NV is better than the 3rd, but I still love both. I've probably logged close to 600 hours between the two. I love big open worlds and get very OCD about playing through every bit of them. But hey, not every game jives with everyone.
