The Happy Thread

Finally in possession of my own laptop, got it as a gift for my birthday, not a brand new one but it barely saw any use by its previous owner. Only one that actually used it was me and now it's mine in all it's entirety, now just need to customize it to my liking.

I'm getting very close to paying off my part of my credit card's balance. Of course, there's at least one fairly urgent purchase I might make that'll set it right back to where it is now, but I've only got ~$38 left - and $25 of that is already accounted for (and technically another $20 if I can manage to hit the 2000 Rewards points marker, which if I make that urgent purchase I already mentioned, will knock the price down from $50 to $30...like I said, right back where I am now, but $30 is not much to really worry about).

Once I pay that off, I personally will be debt-free, although I'll still have to manage the payments my parents make to their side of it. It also means that if I can find employment and pay off their part (which I would do because I don't like having a balance at all if I can help it), they'll just be paying me directly instead of that money having to go to Chase. And I could use that for stuff I need - like the remaining college courses I need and new computer hardware.

Modified my eating habits a little bit, shifting more towards protein while reducing carbs. Trying not to eat anything that spikes insulin. So far I've been able to eat ~170 C a day vs. my usual ~500ish, and not be hungry, and lose a few lbs. An old pair of jeans I like fits me once again.

Spring is finally definitely here

This is sort of a countervent to my previous ramblings in the vent about how tough I find it surviving deep winter (January-February), particularly emotionally - that season is really tough on me, and this winter was one of the toughest for me to get through. But I did and I can't get over how awesome it is today.

Weather was glorious and I spent the afternoon wandering a bunch of dry grass fields in a t-shirt through sunny weather, listening to Russian music from my hometown that speaks to me directly. I am still broke, but I said fuck it and dropped by the store on my way home, bought a couple of things that I love eating (including one of my favourite kinds of bread), nabbed the last bottle on the shelf of one of my favourite kinds of beer at the liquor store, made home and made myself good dinner. Feel awesome, drinking that beer and eating that dinner now with my window open and a nice natural breeze in the room.

It's super nice out here, too, Adam and I went for a walk, it seemed everyone else had the same idea. Families and dogs everywhere!

Was having a good conversation with Mitch this evening and to top it off, i decided to check ticket prices to Chicago... dropped about $200 so I jumped on that shit right away

Computer is finally up and running. The GeForce GTX 570 I got was huge! had to make some slight modifications to the chassis to make it fit, but everything works

I had one of the worst weeks ever at work last week, but this week, the company president came to visit and gave us all backpacks and jackets.

Plus we're getting a BBQ lunch today.

Maybe this place doesn't suck so bad after all...
