The Anime Boston prescreenings

I'll weigh in here from my perspective as a contest coordinator.

Last year I tried something with my pre-screening. We had about 10 people and 100 videos to go through. It was a dry event. In the interest of the sanity of my pre-screeners, I instated a rule that if they UNANIMOUSLY voted to skip a video (it had to be REALLY bad), that video would receive a 0 score and be skipped.

That sounds like a good approach, if only so that the pre-screeners don't feel helplessly chained in to watching torturously bad videos.

Yeah, I couldn't get off early on Thursday to get over to AB that night.

Honesty, in my opinion. The "Audience" Which are also the "viewers" Majority of them vote for their favorite anime/song and don't really look into another video that took part in that one category, or the other, which had a lot more feeling into the winner, or finalist. I still think if you have a popular song, you'll make it, or and win. That's just me. Seen it happen plenty of times, which kind of sucks. Can't blame the viewers to not know anything about an actually concept for an AMV. About the judges who decide what videos make it to the finals. I don't even know.

I find your contempt for your audience and condescending to them rather deplorable. I thought this last year when you complained on the AB thread and I still think it now; you just sound like sour grapes.

That an audience choice award is chosen by the convention audience? Yes, that is an indisputable fact.

Finding TWO days where that many people can come. If you don't have everyone return, then the results are skewed, or you have to throw out some of the scoring.

Then you get very inconsistent results, that's a terrible idea.
