Re: Unexpected
Pretty nice scene selection overall, it made the concept both easy to understand and nicely executed!

Re: Unexpected
I really, really despised this video up to 1:01. After watching the entire video, I get why you put those kinds of scenes there, but there was no connection between those scenes at all, and it made it really random. It went from day, to night, to a beach scene, to a cafeteria, to random face shots, to a notebook, to traffic. Just... what? I understand the purpose of having those scenes, to kind of show the normal life leading up to the change at 1:05, but it's still incredibly random. The least you could have done was have night scene, night scene, sun rising, blah blah.
Also, each transition led to a different anime, so there were no two clips from the same anime next to eachother, furthering the random.
In addition, the sync was... fine, I guess, but it was repetitive and boring; each transition was a crossfade, and each crossfade happened at the same beat in the song, for basically an entire minute. You could have changed it up a bit, had some scenes longer and not, had more hard cuts, etc. and it would have been ten times better.
As for the rest of the video, starting after 1:01-- much more interesting. First thing I noticed--hard cuts. Thank god! The pacing was also varied, making it much more interesting to watch. However, the scene selection seemed to be divided into two groups-- you have the war scenes, and then all these other scenes from the animes in the beginning. I understood the concept at this point to know what you were doing having both of these groups, but they weren't connected well enough; The groups were divided instead of intertwined. The main cause for this was having the "normalish/anime from the beginning" scenes only during the crashes.
Speaking of the crashes, I really disliked the black fades that you had on them, as they were too short, making the transition really rough.
At 1:48, the video is supposed to pick up, but instead you introduce it by having a really long clip, and then it picks up, so bad transition. At 1:53, you have those flashes that you had in the previous section (like at 1:21) but it just doesn't look good. The motion is too static in the clips to have such harsh flashes.
So at this point (1:48), you're transitioning enough, but all of the clips are flat-- there's either very little movement, none, or the video doesn't pan, it's just a still shot of something, which really drug down the impact you had in the last section.
2:15-2:59, you finally have some connection between the war scenes and the "normalish/anime from the beginning" scenes. The entire beginning section was just random, divided groups, and all of a sudden there's some harmony, so I didn't quite like this transition much. But the sync was well executed and interesting, and despite a few scenes here and there that I disliked, this section was really solid and the most enjoyable so far.
I like the scene you have at 2:59 introducing this next section (as well as the flashes on the previous clip that helped introduce it) but then it falls immediately, losing impact with more of these still scenes. This basically continues until the end of the video. However, the two groups are still connected in this section, making it a bit better, but you still have the issue you had in the section after 1:01 with the black fades during the cymbal crashes, and the large lack of impact.
So overall, it was... well, all over the place. The sync had me really confused, as it wasn't consistent and wasn't solid a lot of the time, the connection between these two groups was brought up a bit too late to make the concept really solid, and there was no impact most of the video. Scene selection can be blamed for the lack of connection as well as lack of impact.
Nonetheless, it wasn't a terrible video, and at least there weren't 5 second long scenes or anything like that. It was alright.
Also, each transition led to a different anime, so there were no two clips from the same anime next to eachother, furthering the random.

3:21-3:27 is the only part that I felt really impact me in the dramatic and louder parts of this video. The whole concept of transitioning from a calm atmosphere to absolute dispair at 1:02 is great, but a lot of the clips you used were pretty random and didn't fit the mood that was trying to be portrayed. You have some people smiling and randomly on the phone or looking at something, and it doesn't really fit what's going on. You should have used more scenes of people in complete distress and sadness because of all the killing that is going on around them. I kind of got it in the end that some of the flowers were for a memorial the dead and all, but the clips weren't as concrete and impacting as it should be. Overall, it was pretty good, but it could have been much better if you put more thought into your clip choice.
