Like I mentioned earlier, one thing I noticed is going too quickly into a talking clip can be a bit disjointed. In AMVS5, the use of the Haruhi clip with imouto shooting Kyon actually worked because the silence was the buildup, while if there was talking, it would have been more out of place. It helped me realize something about overall flow, and I think we can make that work here.

Anyway, here's my thoughts.
Spoiler :
Haruhi Dragonforce - I'd like to try putting this up front right after the intro card. It is an amazing way to up the energy.
Dane Cook FMA, Bird is the Word, Head On and Death Note Squirrely - I think the clips chosen early on are a bit too old school to begin with, so I suggest moving those a bit back and bring...
FMA Ingredients - this clip to second. It's a classic of yours Deuce and musical while being 'talky' so it blends well. After that...
Rubber Ducky - Rubber Ducky's best up front like in AMVS4 due to its slow speed. Then...
Eva Phone Call - Instead of using a talker right after like in AMVS4, I think this one is great. Upbeat, funny, and also talky to a degree. Great blend and one of my favorites.

Here is where the four clips from the beginning followed by the Azumanga Alcohol song would fit best I think. That should make the beginning flow nicely with only minor adjustments.

I think laughter might drown out some clips that we have, which is the other main reason I wanted to do this. Remember that Otakon's reaction really can drown out things and ruin clips if you lose the first few seconds unlike smaller places, so with that in mind, here's some places I think can work.

(New)Shiny Teeth - Putting this in right after Naruto Captain Planet could work pretty well.
Jojo Drive Down Street - I think this one would fit better right after Bomberman since it starts quickly.
Geico Money Tenchi - This should be moved back to make room for the other two that are missing to show up I think. Maybe after Haruvi Baadoman.
I have to get to sleep now for work, but there's some movement with the clips at the end that I think can be done to strengthen the overall production. Like there are some good ones, but I think we have more strong ones in the center and I think we should move a few of the stronger ones back to the end to go out with a bang. I'll bring them up later though.

Anyone else have any thoughts on the content or any of my suggestions?

I'll be heading on a trip until April 1st, but I'll be bringing materials with me and try to make another clip in between park-hopping at Disney World... ...and that being said, I don't expect to get too much done until I get back :D

I just tonight finished my second clip.

http://davidkrein.net/MononokeTest.rar

Let me know what you guys think. It's another pretty long one, mainly because quite honestly I couldn't think of a better place to start it considering the scene buildup and the dialogue. If you all have an idea for where it could be started, let me know, I'll give it a shot. And why the hell do I always want to make stuff that requires so much masking :|

I'll try to make a few more suggestions for AMVSReheated tomorrow as well before I leave. Mostly everything else is pretty strong, just some more 'laughter leeway' clip movements so laughter doesn't drown as much stuff out based on the clips' impact in previous years.

Is anyone else active right now? I'm feelin' kinda lonely

Awesome! Look forward to seeing it!

And thanks :) Watching it from beginning to end makes me laugh at the absurdity even though I created it, but like I said, if you think the intro is too long, please tell me where you might think a better start location would be. Right now it's 30 seconds of pure Mononoke footage, but the length of the buildup just seems to work in terms of lulling the watcher into a pace with the scene and then just pulling the rug out from under them. That's the intention anyway, but there may be a better way I just haven't thought of.

Well, you could start the clip at "The forest bear brought you back to life..."

I'll try to render my newest one today...

Going back to the subject of themes, would "Food" work?

Hahahah! Yes! Madoka's new reactions made it twice as good as I remembered :D I know that last little look of hers will land nicely!

And the next clip is excellent too, that was gorgeous! Beautiful use of Farnsworth :D

I'll render off a version starting at the forest spirit line and post it to see if you feel it works.

As for food, did you have something specific in mind? From what I've seen, whenever we try to go too broad with the theme it tends to go all over the place to the point of not feeling like a theme. Are you thinking in terms of a running gag?

Just thought I'd pop in and check in with all of you ^_^. Been doing my best to come up with some clip ideas but I figure it will be like every other time and I'll have a creative revelation towards the deadline, much like last year ;P.

Have we decided on a theme or had any more ideas at all? I remember there was a suggestion for political type videos a while back. I'm not too sure I could come up with anything for that and don't really have any solid ideas to contribute unfortunately :( . I would LOVE to help with the running gag again this year if we decide on one. I think having a gag as kind of like a "side dish" for the salad projects is really amusing ^_^.

The first deadline is in the early part of May if I remember correctly...which means I need to step up my game and put forward more than just the one clip I already sent Deuce. I'd like to know if we can nail down a theme though so I can focus on that for clip material gathering ^_^

All I know is I haven't received a submission in months.
And we don't even have a minute on the time line.
's about a month until the initial deadline and now I'm worrying...

For the gag, political could be pretty fun, but again, it's too broad to just say 'political.' The best gags just seem to follow meme-style timing and situation. Biggest thing that works is impact though, catching people off guard. They can't see it coming unless we want them to, that's proven most successful. Is there anything political that can follow that type of buildup? I'll consider that too, but if you think of it from that standpoint, I believe it should point us in the right direction again, political or otherwise.

I've posted at least a minute and a half so far, and Warlike Swans has a good solid minute ready too, so no fearmongering 8-) Mine will be complete in DV form for you soon, and more will be on the way once I return from vacation in a few days. Not sure how much more, but that depends on my job situation and time of course.

I e-mailed you about messaging everyone to check on status. Checking in individually would probably help you get an idea of where everyone is and why. Transform your worrying into action and get in contact with those who haven't filled you in on status, and also by making some of your own clips and you'll see the timeline extend that much faster. If I'm not mistaken you yourself haven't submitted more than two or three clips in the last two years either, so you've got some 'splainin' to dooo :)
