Animes with no BS

Post by Foristality » Tue Apr 03, 2012 1:29 am

I'm looking for anime's that are deep. Some what like "Kid's Story" from animatrix. Real life with some sci fi. Something like deadman wonderland would be fine too, but nothing dumb and dull.

Guilty Crown would be a no no.

You might have to explain your tastes a bit more, like what you liked about Kid's Story and didn't like about Guilty Crown, and what you find BS or dumb or dull. Everybody's tastes and perceptions of BS are different.
The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

Basically I want the anime to be solid and maintain a strong theme.

I hate animes who have those sketchy funny/angry sad faces.

Examples:

Animes like bleach, naruto, fairy tail etc are filled with them. It takes away from the experience.

Also animes like naruto are too unanswered. First off what century are they in? why wont someone just shoot the nine tail fox? just blow his brains out. They have fridges,tv, light, electricity, but live in during B.C Why is the story so broken? There is no ending.

Kid's Story has that feel to it. Its like a movie.

If you watched ergo proxy you know what I mean. Although there was one episode in ergo proxy that was full bs.

I want animes that are like movies, not cartoons for children.

PS. I dont have problems with Animes like Blood C. It had a solid story line with a twist.

-Xam'd: Lost Memories
-Planetes

Those have solid themes going throughout; Planetes moreso.

Oh and only Xam'd if you're able to swallow the 'Kid gets powers' type thing; I know thats kinda GC'ish but I felt like Xam'd tweaked it in a really interesting way; it was more 'survival' than anything.

I will very much echo the suggestion on PlanetES; would discourage Xam'D, though. Also, if you haven't checked it out yet, watch Memories, at least the Magnetic Rose short (not sure if the other two would be to your taste, but that first one probably would).
I also believe that perhaps Cowboy Bebop could be something you'd enjoy, though you've probably already seen that?

Oh and, it's just started, but I suggest you to follow Uchuu Kyoudai.

One of my favorites, Noir. Not sci-fi, but pretty decent.
I also just watched Space Brothers, which is airing this season, it definitely has a Planetes feel to it. I'd suggest checking it out.
