Re: Sakura-Con 2012 Winners
I couldn't stay to watch all of videos, as staffing obligations made me leave at the beginning of the Parody category, it was a really tough contest. Barring some issues with my own video's showing in the contest, I think I was really outclassed by the level of editing in the Offbeat category. I personally loved the K-On video and even voted for it over my own.
Despite the issues with my video, I hope people still enjoyed it nevertheless as part of the selected few to be in this year's contest. Congrats to the winners this year. Looks like I need to pull out the big guns for next year.

Never underestimate the power of Disney.l33tmeatwad wrote:When looking at the finalist list, that was the last one I thought would take parody (thought the other Ouran video would win), but I didn't take into consideration the Lion King fanbase...interesting results.Castor Troy wrote:Probably my favorite video in the contest was Coup d'état (Long Live the Shadow King) since I'm a sucker for The Lion King and I used to sing "Be Prepared" all the time in my youth...
Congrats to the winners.

Wait, so you're retiring? ARe you also going to dissapear from cons then like a lot of the retirees or will you still be attending cons? The old folks home is getting more and more crowded, now we've got Hsien, Joe and Castor all in the home of professional retirees. Meanwhile Vlad continues to prove that with age comes stamina as he outlasts the younger generation again and again.
Also are you still competing in AX this year and its subsequent iron editors?

I'll still be attending cons. Just no longer as an active editor. The Wired Knight wrote:Wait, so you're retiring? I'll be competing in amv contests up until the end of the year, so I'll still be sending to AX.
The only time I'll edit amvs again is if I'm forced to Iron Chef (I need to defend my Iron Editor title at Sakura Con next year), but other than that, I won't be making videos anymore.
