In summary: Terrible Instructor.

...

So I walk into the Final Exam. Instructor says "Oops! I forgot to teach you Chapter 11. No exam today." Now, not only did this display the intelligence level of my instructor, but it annoyed me on a personal level, because I spent roughly 3 hours prior committing meaningless jargon into my short-term memory for nothing. My time is precious. But, on the bright side, I suppose I could let my brain relax, and forget it all in a matter of minutes... so I thought. Then he proceeds to teach us Chapter 11 in ten minutes... and administers the exam anyways! So basically he lied about not having an exam today, and I don't like being screwed around with like that. Sure, the class did agree to it, but only because we expected an exam today rather than come back on Thurday. Everyone wanted to just end the course. We were tired.

Now that wasn't the only problem, I had my doubts about this instructor from the beginning, but by the end of the year, he didn't really give us any notes; he did not give us a practice final; he didn't even do any practice questions in class, let alone give us any material to study from. We just sat around, did labs (that never work), and waited for him to finish telling stupid stories that dragged on and on... I'm not sure I learned anything all year... but he did tell us to study our previous quizes, because some of the questions could come from there; so I spent several hours going over all 200 MC questions, thinking I would be well-prepared (And I know how to study effectively--I got straight A's last semester... so I thought I'd be fine...) Well, not a single question came from those quizes-- or anything we 'learned' for that matter. (He doesn't really teach us...) I ended up getting 48%. Which was a high mark, somehow. Most people failed. I simply failed better lol. Partly because a lot of the questions came from the infamous Chapter 11. *facepalm* He totally didn't prepare us for this test though. I'm pretty certain he would fail the exam too, because he'd never seen the questions before. You could totally tell he just used his 'instructor account' to randomly generate the exam. He did it in front of us-- you could see it on the computer projector... :|

He pulled similar crap during the midterm, and we railed him for it, so I thought he would change. His defense was "Oh, but you guys did so well on the quizes; I don't think I saw anyone get below 70%!" But I forgot to mention, that these 'quizes' he gets us to do are online, so we all get 100% every time without really understanding anything, or learning anything for that matter. I suspect he thinks that even if he does a crappy job teaching us, we won't say anything because he gives us free marks from quizes we can google the answers for (Try it: Cisco CCNA Answers). I think his reasoning is that it levels out the class to an 'average' mark, which ironically helps the weaker people in my class, but deprives those that deserve better. It's like he's thinking:

'If they all ace the quizes, but fail the exams, the class mark distribution will flatten out.' which is complete BS.

Furthermore, he left the room several times during the exam, almost as if he was encouraging us to cheat to pass. But I don't just want to pass the class, I want to know this stuff, otherwise he is just setting me up to fail all my classes next year... not to mention any impact this could have on scholarships which some people depend on. I don't think he understands the consequences of his actions. I mean, his class atmosphere is very lax. Sure, it's easy. But that's not why I come to school. I go to learn shit. So I eventually stopped going to class. And you could tell class attendance started to thin out, so he changed the course outline to add 10% class participation. Did more people show up? not really. But participation doesn't even have a place in the class. The general concensus from other [good] instructors is that I pay good money to take the course, so it's up to me to decide if coming to class is worth it or not... and in this case... it's not...

We don't really learn anything, and counterproductive to class time, he relies on us to go through these stupid powerpoints *in our own time* which consists of 60+ slides for each chapter-- which is basically a text-book in powerpoint form, but worse, because there's no real explainations in the slides. Yet he fill's time by telling stupid/inappropriate stories in class:

"I ordered fried rice with chicken, and didn't eat it because I was waiting for them to bring me the chicken."
(He didn't realize the chicken was chopped up and mixed into the rice... seriously...)

"In India, this girl didn't go out with me because they skip dating and just get married. But in North America, we like to test-drive our cars before buying them!"
(... sure I laughed... but he still managed to make it awkward laughter... )

And he took a good 10 minutes telling the above two stories each, trying to pass them off as 'life experience.'

Okay, I get it, you want us to like you. And I understand that teaching isn't the easiest task in the world. I have empathy in me. But I can also be pissed, so at least prepare us for the test YOU are going to give us.
If anything, you at least have control over that much.

*sigh*

...

So now I have to finish my final research paper for another class due tomorrow.
But I can't. Because I'm actually... kind-of... mad... and I don't really get mad.

...

I also left my laptop adapter at school, and
just spent a good hour of battery life typing this :S
ffffffff-- it's not too bad since I have a spare... but still!

In my business class, they'd like to call that teacher a "laizze-faire leader" because he's a lazy leader who expects everyone to say "Ok, well, if you like me, I'll give you an A!" . . . Not really sure if its complete laizze-faire because he was attempting to teach. . . about chicken fried rice. . . Anyway, That's pretty dumb because it makes the students question where he got his degree to teach from??

I've been having a difficult time in the last week trying to get re-committed to classes with tax season over, but the motivation just isn't there. I mean, it's just plain GONE. >_>

My main system has been randomly rebooting from an unknown hardware failure. Windows hasn't picked up on what component is doing it, and it happens so rarely that I haven't been able to figure out what's wrong. Only thing I noticed is that after it happens, any USB ports that had devices in them when it went don't work when it comes back up, so i need to move my keyboard and mouse to another port to log in. They work fine afterward though... Gonna have to take the thing apart - hopefully whatever it is will be fairly obvious. One of my monitors has been freaking out sporadically as well, so it might very well be the video card.

Came home yesterday to a paper duct taped to the front door. I think we're being evicted from our house.

Oh God.

The same mentally unstable man we had to ban from our apple store caught the same bus as me and sat not only right in front of me and stared at me, but he then say behind me and popped off one of my earphones while I was watching something. I chose to ignore the fucker.

What made this end was rather strange

I stood up next to the door and he got off at the next stop but he walked slow and constantly looked back.

But my happy ending:

I STUCK THE MIDDLE FINGER AT HIM AS THE BUS PULLED AWAY
Almost as hard as fighting a Holy Paladin.

Less than a year ago, I bought myself a new bicycle. Now it's basically scrapmetal because it got rammed with a car by my dear beloved sister. Frame broken, wheels bent and ~850$ down the drain. FUCK!
