All that was said before is very interesting, I think that the critic would have been bad if it had been done by a random user. But considering that it was a judge's comment, I think that I would give the same opinion. This not for "bullying", but because it's the true comment for that video. I don't know if the judges knew that this was your first video, but even in case they knew, it wasn't a good reason for saying you that was a good video if it wasn't. I also think that you need to watch more AMVs, and I think that in the future, when you'll have more experience and you'll be better, you'll re-watch this video and you're be completely agree with the judge, and you'll think that you were a stupid xD

Anyway try to don't let yourself down, surely you'll receive other comments like that, maybe more "brutal", but they will be useful for you and your improvement.

MasterZero8 wrote:First, sorry that my video was so terrible, it was my first real AMV though, plus I'm working with the worst of the worst video editors here. :(

Now I can take criticism, but I will be honest, this felt more like bullying to me. Especially whoever said that last part, was it really necessary?
I do like to have some good criticism along with the bad, it helps, but I guess thats too much.
Oh well though, I've dealt with enough of this in my lifetime that I know how to handle it by now.

Why was the visual quality so bad? Just because I didn't use 1080p blu-ray footage?

How can I have poor audio editing? I didn't edit any of the audio. :?

Yes sorry on the "lip flap" and the like. It was synced better, but apparently I had to only have 29.97 fps. I guess I was editing in a little bit higher fps, so after I published it and changed the fps it screwed that up.

And I'm sorry but saying I didn't put in enough effort really hurts. Cause I put in a lot. I spent almost everyday working on it, with a total of at least 30 some hours.
And saying I need to watch more AMVs really hurts too. Cause I have seen 1000's of AMVs and I can tell a good one from a bad one.
Now I'm not saying mine is that great at all, but for my first one, the very limited resources I had, and other factors, I felt it was at least ok.
Visual quality was bad because of encode and some masking with rough edges. Looked like decent encodes, but the encode created some serious blocking >.>

Lip flap was synced better? Keep it that way! "Something broke it" isn't an excuse, fix it!

I wouldn't want to judge your work on it, though, for me you did fine! Just not fine enough ^^;;

Btw, I am completely fine with making my comments public. If anyone wants to, they can reason with me personally ;x

Same, I'd be always up for talking about feedback.

How about a new rule for judges: in your comment, write a "good, bad, general" sort of thing. That way we remember to not just slam videos that we vote down. I think that's important, even if our job is ultimately to filter videos - otherwise we're just gonna cause drama.
The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

Last but not least, my apologize goes to masterzero. That comment was out of place no matter what it was meant to be. I am truly sorry.
Its alright, I'm perfectly fine now, thanks though.
I have a lot of respect for someone that can come out and do that. :D

 This idea I approve of.

Now if at all possible I would like some real feedback and opinions on my video from the judges or anyone, if its not too much trouble and if you have the time.
If you do just PM me please, and try to keep it as basic as possible, since I don't know much video editing terminology yet. Please and thank you. :P

My biggest goal now is that I hope my next video will impress everyone.

Oh and I would also like to see the comments for all the other videos to come, if its still possible. Since I will definitely be keeping an eye on this contest to learn as much as I can. :P

I'd recommend posting in the opinion exchange forum, or if you're feeling up to it, make a topic in the announcement forum.

drewaconclusion has withdrawn and Evil Environmentalist has taken his spot in Round 2.

While we are sad drewaconclusion has left us early, we look forward to seeing Evil Environmentalist attempt a glorious comeback!
