Anime Expo 2012 AMV Contest Thread - WINNERS ANNOUNCED!!!

I really like the fact that trailers are now allowed into the contest.

Q: Why is "Fun" called "Random/Fun"?[/i]?
A: That's a bit more complex. The "Fun" category had originally been intended as a Parody/Trailer category. However, this year and last year it ended up being a category for "orphan vids," or vids which none of the other categories would fit. Heck, before the Fun category, the AMTV category ended up being the home for orphan vids. This issue holds true again for this year, so we figured we might as well embrace it. Next year though, that WILL be fixed properly, and those orphan vids will have a welcoming happy home. Stay tuned.

that being said, are these videos still ineligible for Best of Show? --not fair since i selected "action"! but i'll get over it since backstreet's back!

Trailers have been allowed in since last year.

A lot of videos were re-categorized. I originally sent Dreamer to Upbeat/Fun

To be fair, a lot of your video is lip sync and sexy times. The action just kinda seems to be there as filler. IMO, it's more upbeat/fun than action.

I'm new to entering contests, but based on the last few I've been in, it seems like I'll have to strictly stick to more crowd-pleasing/accessible music and anime sources if I want to be considered... I'm salty, but I knew what I was getting into from the get-go this time. Argh. Best of luck to those who made it in -- I still can't wait to meet you all! Good news is, I'll now be posting my little rejects here on the ORG before AX for all to enjoy/hate.

Edit whatever you want. Making it into convention contests or even winning them doesn't make you a good editor. Considering the majority of audiences just vote for their favorite anime/song combination, you're just supposed to do your best and see how things go. Hope for the best, expect the worst is my motto.

Also, good beta testers are your friends.
