  • Please limit your new threads (not replies) to one per week. If you have several new videos to announce, create one thread for all the videos. (Note: if you forget one you can edit your post!)
  • Offsite links are allowed, but you are required to have a catalog entry for that video as well. Threads announcing videos that do not contain a catalog entry will be moved to the Awaiting Catalog Entry sub-forum and will be deleted in 2 weeks if an entry is not created.
  • When posting announcements, it is recommended that you include links to the catalog entries (using the video ID) in your post.

To start, allow me to say that you used my favorite anime with one of my least favorite bands lol

Anyways, I thought it was pretty good for a 2nd AMV. Although, the effects were very random and out of place and some of the masks were kinda bad. However, some parts were pretty clean. My advice is to work on your effects some more so they don't look as choppy, and try to place them in your video at less random times.

that's unnecessary, negative criticism is fine, but at least be constructive about it.

this is pretty good for a second amv! you say you're looking to improve through feedback, so i'll nitpick at a few things that i noticed. you seemed to have experimented with effects quite a bit, and you got the hang of some of them, although others were placed in areas that seemed a bit random. first, the text - (i personally wouldn't recommend using text, just because aside from in/outros it usually feels out of place) before using it it would be best to look into "proper" typography, and also find consistent parts of the song to use it during. something about the footage seems off, at a first glance i'd say that the frame rate isn't correct but i might be wrong on that one. the glows, like at ~0:22 for example, seemed a bit sporadic and strong and could throw a viewer off, i'd recommend experimenting with brightness & contrast to simulate that kind of sync. the shaking also could have been smoother, you could achieve such smoothness by adding slight blurs to accompany any rapid movements. oh, and those panned out clips w/ the border over top of what appears to be fan art, their movements were a bit messy, you could use blurs with those too, i'd also suggest consistent border color/styles but that's just a personal preference. but overall, experimenting is good, it's the only way you'll ever learn what truly works and what doesn't; here's a tip, instead of approaching certain effects so strongly, try being more subtle as it can complement your video to a greater extent and still appear pleasant.

finally, the logo in the upper right hand corner of the footage, that could potentially be distracting to a viewer, and it can be removed in a few different ways. you could crop it out, which would also slightly cut off frames depending on the size of the logo, or you could remove it by filtering, you could try this, i can't guarantee that it works because i've never had the chance to use it myself, but i assume it would, which you'd also need virtualdub for. in any case, i recommend downloading virtualdub, it's a very helpful software, i'm sure there are several guides around the forum that can help you with some of it's other features. oh and to add, you may also want to look at a guide for .avi or .mp4 renders, they're most commonly used here.

I'm actually having trouble too to be any kind of constructive.

At least the video did the song justice and you nailed it's content:

sucking badly. (Do they really call this garbage music?)

No flow, no sync, random and ugly looking effects, useless and lame text, horrible video quality and some strange footage-lag, no point. I usually like to mention good things in contrast to the bad, but this video didn't have anything good in it that could be mentioned. From start to finish it was just plain terrible. (I'd rather watch one of these unedited WMM videos that just have random clips thrown in the timeline without any editing whatsoever) Oh, there may be something good about it: that it ended so fast. First time I was actually glad someone cut the song in a bad way and that even before the video actually seemed to really start. I'm not sure if I could have watched this much longer than it was.

Also...did I just watch a 720p .WMV?

To sum up my feelings about the video...it kind of felt like this.

i admit i was surgarcoating, but i don't like to discourage new editors, especially considering what the amv community has already dwindled to.
