I have a video that is nearing being finished, but I have a question about lip sync.
There are some parts I intend on lipsynching, and others that absolutely shouldn't be (lyrics are saying "blah blah blah you said" and then the char the singer is speaking about is onscreen, so it would change the singer and that doesn't tell the story properly).. so my question is, would it look halfassed if I only lipsynch the parts where the character telling the story is the one onscreen, or would it help to denote the difference between the singer and the character being sung about?
None of the talky scenes are terribly long, but I keep going back and forth with myself on this one, as lip synching all the talky bits just wouldn't feel right... but not lip synching any of it would make some parts just feel... awkward.

Re: Lip synch or not?
Unless there are two very distinct vocals, it's best not to lip sync another character. This isn't always the case because it really depends on what you're doing. In the case of there being two vocals, I think it would be a little awkward but personally I think most lip sync, outside of a comedy video type settings is rather awkward. If you're doing it just to try and separate the two characters based on what is going on in the song, you can do this with just simple editing. If you've done it right, the viewer should be able to figure out what is going on.

Yeah I think maybe I'll just go with it as-is, because the lyric timing already should be getting the point across.Pwolf wrote:Unless there are two very distinct vocals, it's best not to lip sync another character.
