Wave Form Effect

So, how does one go about making a wave form that you can place in your video that actually matches the song? Can it be done in After Effects? Well, I'm sure you can, but is there a way to make it match the music automatically?

That's an spectrum rather than a waveform, both can however be generated.

Effects > Generate > Audio Spectrum

Put it on a solid, select the audio track and the rest speaks for itself.
