Anime Los Angeles 2013 AMV Contest

Post by MikalSaltveit » Sun Sep 02, 2012 3:39 pm

Its that time of year again folks, time for the Anime Los Angeles Anime Music Video Contest.

From the official site: http://www.animelosangeles.org/ala/2012/amv-contest/
The AMV (Anime Music Video) contest takes place on Friday. Anime Music Videos consist of clips from one or more anime series or movies set to songs. They are made by fans because they have a passion for an anime/song combination that drives them to show that vision to audiences.

All of our contestants are fans just like you who have worked hard all year to create the videos we will be showing off Friday evening. There are many
awards that can be won.

Audience Categories:
◦Crowd Pleaser
◦Best in Category (Four awards: Action, Drama, Comedy, Pro)

Judging Categories: (Voted on by our panel of Judges)
◦Best Produced
◦Judges’ Favorite

◦Staff Picks (AMV Staff pick their favorite entrie(s) )

Our Judges are:
Ed Hooper
Victoria Shapero

UPDATE: It is confirmed that the AMV Contest will be changing time-slots to Sunday starting at 10:00am. This is possibly a one-time change, and if things do not work out we will be moveing back to Friday night.

UPDATE: We will also have a reduced contestant pool of 5 videos per category, with the regular categories of Action, Drama, Comedy, Pro, for a total of 20 videos. If a 5th category is added due to shifting submission content the numbers will switch to 4 videos per category. This is reduced from last years 30 videos. These numbers are not fixed, but represent our intent to reduce the total number of videos shown, to better fit into our allotted time-slot without running over as in previous years.

UPDATE: To clarify the attendance rule. We WILL accept entries from non-attendees, however attendees will have first shot at the slots, and you must appear in person or by proxy to claim any prizes.

UPDATE: We will no longer allow more than 1 video per contestant to be shown in the contest. We had over 60 people submit videos last year, and should have no issue filling the available slots.

UPDATE: We are now accepting snail mail again! Snail mail must be mailed before the deadline, or other arrangements must be made via e-mail.

UPDATE: All entries are in! The contest is now complete and ready to air.

UPDATE: Finalists announced! Please be sure your information is correct.

UPDATE: Comedy category renamed to Parody for this year only to better reflect the nature of the videos contained within.

Hmm... I'd enter my Eva AMV, but I'm afraid it's not "appropriate for a television viewing audience." Aaaaaaand Castor's just going to win it anyway. Oh well, perhaps next year I'll use less cool sources. (the kind with less blood and naked women..)
