MPEG-4 AVC is really a great format for AMVs (and anything). It has more support than probably anything else besides old-school MPEG-4 ASP and MPEG-1, thanks to QuickTime 7 supporting it out of the box, and iTunes including QuickTime 7, meaning that basically everybody has support for it. It's also much higher quality than ASP and on par or better than RV10 and VC-1. The only potential downside is the high processor requirements that might alienate some viewers with older computers. Other than that, it's the wave of the future, man.post-it wrote:ok .. sooo .. what are the advantages/disadvantages to MP4's -- I've been gone for over three years here; so I'm waaaay out-of-the-loop with the MP4 stuff. Last time I was making AMV's with Xvid and RP9's

Re: Important Information for MP4 Users
Does anyone honestly use the information in this sticky any more?
I already added it to the List of AMV Resources & How-To Guides
So, I think it served it's purpose in the past; but currently, I vote for unstickying this.

yeah; I don't think this listing is really helping anybody!
Most of the Video Editors & Directors 'come with the Newer Computers today.
hmmm, now if a laptop had the option of Avid Media Composer or Sony Vegas Pro on-board,
then this list would be totally useless .. unless you, for some reason, actually wanted
Adobe Premiere Pro or Magix Video Pro!!!!
