I kinda agree if you think about it...In most case when a person is considered a Rookie its their first time in the Big Leagues but ya gotta work to get there. Giving it to someone who is decent their first year of editing is kinda weird actually. Don't get me wrong a first year editor can definitely win.kireblue wrote:I don't feel that Rookie of the year should have a hard cut off for editors that made a vid more then a year ago. But I do understand that we need clear standards about who counts as a rookie. I feel that Zanzaben is a great candidate for this award, but since he actually made his first vid in on 10/15/11, the current rules make him illegible. It should also be noted that his is categorized wrong. It was made for Project org editor this year, but be accidentally put the premiere date as 05/21/11 instead of 05/21/12.
So in a nutshell, I feel that the 1 year rule should have some flexibility for editors that released their first vid towards the end of 2011.

1) Because this is how it's been done since the start of the VCAs
2) If we start making exceptions for 1 category then people will begin to demand it for more categoires
3) There are PLENTY of rookies. You have no idea how many. I do because I'm currently sorting through the category before Nominations go live. Some of them even have spectacular videos! The main problem I'm seeing here is that people don't know who they are so they might as well not exist.
I'm sorry, but I really don't have any sympathy for this There have been plenty of videos that I missed the year prior and are no longer eligible for the VCAs. This makes me sad but the only person I have to blame for it is myself for not actually paying attention and rallying for it when I could.

Re: Rookie of the Year
Well as much as it means to me to be brought up for this I personally have to agree with Yue about my ineligibility, mainly for the reason that if we start making exceptions here people will demand them elsewhere and also because there needs to be some kind of hard cut off point other wise it could just snowball out of control with being more and more lenient about only making say 2 videos near the end of the year or even how we define near the end of the year because if we say it is October (Which is when my first video was out) what about the guy who released it September 31 and so on.
However as a note to anyone who is debating on releasing their first video, if it is around November or December, just wait till January 1st
